Well im coming home from downtown Joliet when two guys pull up to me in to Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyders(red and silver one). Wave me off to nearest gas station and ask what i got in the car. I tell them a modded 350 with about 300 hp. They say u wanna race we jsut got back from the shop, im like sure but no money. So we go start racing down Divison st. I whoop on the red gt and the guy seems pretty pissed( imean comon man ur fart cannon aint gonna cut it). Well, the silver one well thats diff story. This guy doesnt even punch it off the line so i start outpretty good aobut 6 cars on him then he hits the gas nad in aobut 3-4 seconds hes about 4 cars ahead and at the end maybe around 9 cars. So we go to the gas station and i ask hij what hes got in there. Hes says stock laughing and then says twin turbos with a shot of nos. I drove off not mad after losing that one. Ha!

I really don't understand how nitrous is cheating?

twin turbos on an eclipse???

he wouldve been able to take you from a roll even w/o the nitrous ..if he really has twin turbos or even a big single turbo....

if it was a GSX AWD...then he would have had you either way....the turbo in that is easy to mod u can get a boost controller pretty cheap from ebay...(manual controller ...thats what most of those guys do anyways...until things start breaking up and then they decide to go with an Digital controller...

This has been said before, and more ignorant people will probably say it in the future. You need to realize that Nitrous Oxide ( not NOS because I'm not a walking advertisement), is a mod just like any other. Are superchargers cheating? Turbos? Ask any friends of yours what there gas mileage is like on there forced induction car. Then ask someone whos running spray with the same setup. I'm not saying I'm a fan of either, but there are many benefits to both. Neither is a bonefied best solution.

I dunno, dont you think typing NOS is just as acceptable because its just a abbreviation. I suppose you could type N20 , but then people would be like ...whats N20? Everyone knows what NOS stands for and represtents.

I dunno, to me it sounds really ignorant when people SAY it, but when its written out it seems more acceptable.

I dont think its cheating either...

If they were Spyders, than they were GS-T at best. They are heavier than the normal GS-T since they are verts.

The fact that a DSM can be made fast rather cheap has been beat to death on most boards, so no further discussion is needed. But I have never heard of TT Spyder. Most people that are making serious power with turbos will run a single turbo(or so I have been told) why so many Supra convert to a single turbo.

We have to watch out for some of these Ricers. They always want to embrass V8 cars with their 1.8 - 2.0 inline fours!

dude prolly has over 20G's invested on his eclipse total, so i wouldn't feel too embarassed that my $5K 80's V8 got beat. Gimme 10K more and see who wins. That's the fun of modding these cars, eventually we can beat them for way less than what they payed for their new car and newer technology.

. ..and i agree that nitrous is just another mod.

i dont consider it cheating.. but its unfair. Im a big fan of NA vs. NA. nitrous added on top of twin turbo is a little over kill. It was unfair, not cheating i say.

I've had an Eclipse for almost 5 years and I've never heard of a twin turbo DSM on the street. I live in IL too. Were they both the newer style (Grand-Am wannabe/girl car type) or the 2nd gen 95-99 style Spyders? That's mad custom work if it really was a twin turbo setup. He'd be famous if he gets it to work better than a single turbo.

btw-- the 2000+ Eclipses aren't DSMs. The last true DSM was made in 93, with some leftover in 94. But Eclipses up to 99, and Talons up to 98 are basically recognized as DSMs because they're what DSMs directly evolved into. In 2000, it all went to ****.

a spyder is another word for a convertable. if it was a vert, then it was a spyder. and what year are these eclipse's?

Why what happened in 2000?

And why does everyone seem to think a boost controller will make a turbo eclipse/talon a rocket?

Sure it's an abbrevation, an abbrevation for New Old Stock. It's less like R.ice if you type N20.

Later, Garrett

I wouldn't be upset about losing that one either man. That car sounds pretty quick. But, I also don't believe power adders are cheating. If you can afford it, and it's on the car, I mean what can you say, fast is fast no matter how you did it...

Man, that sucks. Twin turbos AND nos would be pretty hard to beat. Oh well if he wants to rebuild his engine every 50K miles, more power to him. I'll stick with my all American power

Inline 4 with 2 turbo's
How would an inline 4 get two turbos. Its just odd to me and just cant see how it would be plumed to get two off of one header.

I saw the fastest DSM run at the Speed People Open out here near Youngstown. He was supposed to run 7's, but he only busted a low 8. Then when he was going to run against some drag car and something happened in his engine, and he had to be pushed off the track. I was laughing hysterically. I know it was not that funny, but the fact that the car got f^ed up after 1 run was amusing. Just my sick sense of humor I guess.

no I would agree personally. I keep telling my friend with his GST that he should sell it, and buy a muscle car, and with the extra money, beef it up. Twould be way cheaper! But sadly hes one of those **** advocates.....we'll see whats up when he finally figures out that he doesn't have the money to be fixing things all the time. He just had the engine replaced and it already sounds like its got problems, and runs quite hot!

oh well

cheers
