89 3.0 straight 6 dohc turbo supra VS 87-92 350 tpi
stock for stock which one do u think is faster? my freind has a supra for 300 bucks that runs fine with a little rust, does it have potental to keep up with a thirdgen 350?
Turbo = Easy to mod, Easy to make faster, Not easy on the pocket for newer stuff though
But since it is a older Supra it might not be as easy to find a bunch of performance parts for it, but im sure you can. If anything, you'll have another car to use just in case.

Stock the 89 supra had 235 Hp and 240 TQ I believe... a pretty good match for an L98 you'd think... but being turbo'd it needs time to spool up... so it's a car or two behind... but not losing ground...

Watch out for things like...
- Boost controllers or hidden manual boost control *****
- Things you cant see (larger injectors, bigger fuel pump)
- AIC, EVC, ABCDEFG, blah blah blah
Your friend could have ANY of these things and give you a hard way to go.
Dont say you havent been warned.

I hang out with MK3 (86.5-92) Supra's every friday night....Ive seen a lot of races with em but never a 350 vs turbo...As far as turbo lag goes, yea u will probably get them off the line....ive seen a 350 IROC with 2.77's race a N/A Supra and he won pretty easily, and ive seen a Supra Turbo auto boosting 10psi kill a 97 Mustang GT manual really easily.....My LG4 cant keep up with a Turbo Supra....If its stock vs Stock i think the 350 will win...just because they are old Supras doesnt mean its not fast....In a way thats like them saying "OK im going to race a IROC" and some responding "well its not a 4th gen camaro so it shouldnt be to tough" Good Luck

Got any pics of those cars 86taws6? The bird sounds nice and that "ricestang" sounds interesting. Especially the spoiler. My vote is L98 off the line and ahead by about 2-3 cars. It depends on the race though. Stoplight race is all f-body. From a roll, really close. At highway speeds, all Supra. But in looks, I have to say f-body all the way.

i have a pic of the TA somewhere ill try to find it, and ya...the "ricestang" is pretty funny, yet looks good
MK3 Supra's, can be made very fast, they ae heavy 3400lbs, but with a full 3" exhaust thy can be upto 270hp, there is also a Lexus MAF and injector upgrade good to get them to 300hp, all that is very easy to do.
I know a little about them was thinking of one before my latest 3rdGen.

me too draker, i either wanted a t/a or a 3rd gen supra, i looked into 'em for a while and they are quick and making them 13 second cars isnt too hard at all, stock for stock though the 350 is better by a little. The thing that turned me off to supra's though is that the 3rd gens have very very common head gasket failures($1000+ repair, or do it yourself if you can take apart a dohc motor
), especially turbos, not to mention maintaining a turbo car is pricey
