Darned limiter....
On my way home last night i ran into a 2nd gen eclipse turbo on the high way. I started to follow him at a reasonable distance since he was running around 85 or so and thats about as fast as i usually run down the highway. Anyway he sees me after awhile and hits it. Suprisingly the RS actually kept up until i hit that damned limiter. Maybe he wasn't on it fully, but i didn't even have a chance to find out because of the limiter. Still nice to see that those 2.73's give me some advantage.

I think that cars equipped with a 2.73 gear ratio do alot better from a roll. Especially at higher speeds. That seems to be what my car likes anyway.

well since you're getting a chip, nevermind. but you can take off your limiter spending only like $1...but since the chip does other things besides take of the governor, then go ahead

i think it's posted in the tech articles section of this site...
you get to the car's computer and cut the wire that is related to the governor. then attatch some wire from one cut end and connect it to one end of a simple on/off switch ($1 or so at any radioshack or store like it). connect another piece of wire from the other cut end to the on/off switch. the best thing to do is make a hold in that same panel that houses your window switches, cause the switch looks pretty cool there. then just run the wires right under the edge of the center console on the right side, running back to the computer.
the governor receives information on how fast you're going, and once you hit that certain speed, it kicks in. well if you turn the switch to off, the governor doesn't know how fast you're going. for all it knows, your only going 5mph so it doesn't kick in. when you're not gonna need to go over the limit, just keep the switch turned on.
true, this is a more ghetto way to get your limiter off, but it costs $3 max and personally i think the added switch on the center console looks cool. and i think it'd just be cool to tell people that that's the switch to turn the governor off.

ya i read that article when i first got my rs, but its just to much hacking up of the car. Not to mention when you flip the switch the speedo goes dead as i remember. I would rather have the chip and do it the right way.
