ran a 99+ GT Stang today

so i was on my way home form work today when this 99+ GT Mustang was cutting in and out of traffic ahead of me. i just watched him for a bit until the light ahead of us turned red. i thought for sure he was going to blow through it, but he stopped and i switched lanes to get beside him.

now i wasnt sure if he was going to race or not, so i didnt stall my converter or anything... i was gonna wait to see if he wanted to play. sure enough when the light changed, he launched his car and powershifted soon afterwards. i let him get about 2 lengths ahead of me and punched the throttle. i began to reel him in quickly and at about 60mph i had 2-3 lengths on him. i shut down after that, there was no need to take the race any further. after that he wouldnt get up next to me or even get close to my car. he stayed waaaay behind me the whole time... at one point i was doing 40 in a 50 to try to see if he was interested in another go, but i guess he wasnt game.

right before i turned off i gave him a thumbs up, but he didnt return the favor. oh well, i still had fun

Your 13.20 must have hurt his ego

What are your 1/8 mile times? Your car sounds freakin' mean, if your putting down 3 cars on him by 60 MPH!! Hook it & book it!

i havent really run the car since last year, but before the converter and cold air i was turning 8.3s at 81mph in the 1/8 w high 1.8 60fts. with the 2500 nstall i have now, those times should drop a bit

sweet! i hit 2.0's 60' times with my vette with the 2.59 rear gear all stock. runs 14 flat in the 1/4. gonna start modding it soon. still got a warrenty good for almost 20k in miles so i'm not really pressed about it.

what does it do in the 1/4?

stock i ran a 13.9 at 99mph with a 2.0 60ft. heres the breakdown of what i did and the times i got:

flowmaster catback (13.8 at 100mph w 2.1 60ft)
cut lid w K&N drop in (13.6 at 101mph w 1.9 60ft)
free mods, airfoil, AFPR (13.4 at 102mph w 1.9 60ft)
front ypipe, drag radials (13.2 at 104mph w 1.8 60ft)

i have yet to test my newest mods (TPIS cold air & 2500 stall converter), but im expecting high 12s at 105 or so mph.

ever run your Vette at Cecil?

Wow, you're vette is pretty darned fast! Do you know the curb weight with you and a full tank of gas? It always seems that the vette guys run a lot quicker than f-bods with the same amount of mods. It's just not fair, then again we're talking about vettes. Don't even get me started on heavily modded vettes either, they embarass us thirdgens mod-for-mod.
