Unknown prelude vs. my car
There is this cocky kid at my school that says he could beat anybody there. His prelude i dont know anything about except he has 5spd and 200HP. And my car is in the sig, i have a 700R4 Tranny and a 3.27 limited slip posi rearend. My HP has probably gone down a little because my tranny is old but still in pretty good condition but not letting all the power get to the wheels, i have probably around 200HP at the wheels and about 290 FTLBs of TQ. Who would win??
well, your car probably weighs a decent amount more than his, but your torque is probably way higher.
from your mods, i would think you have more than 200hp ?? i say go from a light and enjoy the win. the preludes aren't much to worry about, specially when u got a 350.

Yup you have got him, especially since the later ones (the 200hp vtechs) weighed in around 3000lbs without a driver, so you are only looking at about 2-300lbs differance.

The kid across the street from has one. He thinks it's fast because he put on a fart can and took off his hubcaps (saving weight)
His old car was an old mazda 626 with the tailpipe rusted in half. Now his little brother drives that and thinks it's fast too

Its amazing what ricers think fart cans and stickers do to there car. lol I think i would be able to take him from a roll too cuz my cam seems to help me a lot in the 2500-4200RPM range. On the freeway i can get it to go from 60-110 in no time and have easily barried the speedo (140MPH). Thanks for the replys, im gonna go see if he's all talk or he really thinks he has a fast car tomorrow.
I would say that you should bring the KY to the race. If you put out 280 @ the crank, given an average 20% parasetic leech to the tranny, you should be putting out like 224 or so hp @ the wheels. But you said your tranny is bad, so 200 might be right. Anyways you are pushing way more power than he is, and you even have a cam that will help you getting over the TPI breathing problem up high.
