My New '91 Formula vs. '95 Z/28

Ok I just bought this car and my buddy thinks he's really fast and would just kill me. Here are the spec.'s on both

'91 Formula - 350 TPI, Hypertech Chip, High Flow Exhaust (MagnaFlow), K&N Filter, Rebuilt Tranny (w/ Shift Kit of course), and 3.23's, with 113,000 miles.

'95 Z/28 - 350 LT-1, auto, (2.xx rear rears ?), and bone stock with 98,000 miles.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to get him. But let me know what you all think.

Thanks, Garrett

I have never been beat by a close to stock LT1 especially an auto. with the highway gears. If he does beat you it will be at speeds at over 100 mph. But who cares about that....By the way congrats on the new car, sounds awesome. Let us know how it runs against the LT1.

Well it's all over, I raced him last night and it was horride, I beat him by 2 - 3 car lengths. It was a blast.

Sweet!!! I figured you could beat him. Did you race from a stop, roll, or from what speed??? I rode in my buddy's 95 Z the other night and it didn't feel that fast. He has a six speed, all bolt ons, headers, full exhaust and 3.73's. But then again I saw him run a 13.3 about a year ago, so I definitely don't want to talk down about that car.

BTW, you might want to think about trying another chip besides the Hypertech. In my experience, (when I bought my car it had one in it) my car felt better when I swapped it out for the one that is in there now, which is Performance Resource. I also hear Ed Wright makes a good one. Just a thought. Oh yeah, how do you like that Magnaflow exhaust? I have never heard one on a third-gen, just curious.

We went from a stop to a 1/4 mile. best of 3 but I only needed 2. The Hypertech chip is OK but I was actually thinking of trying a different one (I've heard that the Hypertech isn't the best before).

The Magnaflow exhaust is nice (nothing loud or radical). Not much louder than stock but a little bigger pipe.

I will hopefully take my car to the track next spring. (I am going to wait to do some more mods before racing it, but maybe once this fall to get an idea of how fast it is now).

Here are some pic's of the car (the only thing wrong with the whole car is the driver's side door, previous owner hit the garage door pillar backing out of garage before I bought it )

Oh yea I know the rear hatch is wrong (got broken into in 1993 and it was replaced with an older style one) I know it isn't right but it's different and that's cool for me.

Sorry, I had one more question. What rpm do you shift out of first and second at full throttle? Thanks.

No problem I like to talk about my car as much as I can

To tell you the truth I never checked what it shifts at. I think about 5600. I think but I'll have to check, I know at wide open throttle the 1-2 shift will spin the tires (not chip but spin )

But I'll check and let you know.
