newer Sentra Se-r vs 84 Z

He revved , I revved .
He launched , I waited .
He was alot faster than I gave him credit for.....
He was about 90 feet out, I launched making my passenger scream.

it's on!
first gear.......he is no longer pulling away, at least that I can tell......

second gear......I reel him in....

third gear.........blew a hole in my crappy y-pipe, pretty much open headers now, my passenger screamed again. I have maybe 30-40 km/h on him as I pass him.

fourth gear (overdrive).............as my tach passes 4500rpm, he is getting quite small, my passenger starts laughing.

I slow down and pull over to the side of the road to check on my exhaust, make sure I am not about to attempt a pole vault record.....automotive style. the sentra pulls over and the driver steps out.......

What the he$% are you running???!! Then he saw that the hood no longer fits correctly on my car, it sits nearly 3 inches higher at the back to clear the engine's intake (my next task is to mold a hood scoop in). I popped the hood and tell him it's just a small block chevy, nothing too special. No nitrous, no supercharger, no fancy valve covers, no chrome, no yellow wires.......just a freshly rebuilt 409ci small block chevy with all the internal goodies it truly deserves, and a massive fuel line to keep it happy, and me broke.

Guess he wasn't expecting a stock looking (other than the silly placement of the hood) 84 Z to pose much of a threat to him. I can't wait til I finish this project sometime next year. Although I have to admit, I lost to an se-r not more than 4 months ago in the same car, but that was when the factory 305 with 280,000kms was still nestled between the fenders.

BTW, this happened on a 'deserted' section of highway, well outside of town for those of you about to scream at me.

Just thought you guys would like to share in my joy with my first (as unmatched as it was) victim.

I hate to estimate power numbers, but my best guess puts it somewhere between 390 and 450 hp. For all I know, since I have only pushed it this far the one time so far, it could be less. But like I say, first time pushed. I have ALOT of tuning to do. It's running real rich when the secondaries are open and the timing is very conservative, there is a slight hesitation when running a rolling start to part throttle too. Even at that, first gear is completely useless at anything more than 1/2 pedal.
