Just sharing an experience

It is such a great feeling when you pull on a mustang and as you pass him you see a little crome GT and a snake on his fender .

It's the ones with no badges, or LX on the back you gotta watch out for!!!

So give us some details, like what year, if it was really a Cobra, GT, or V6, and what is done to your car? We wanna know!

I agree you have to watch out for those guys. They may not be all there and might run you off the road! I hate it as much as any Fbody owner!

There's this nerdy security guard that patroles the grocery store next to my work. He drives a yellow '02 mustank. that car looks nice. he has a body kit, dual exhaust out the sideskirts of the bodykit (like the saleen), a cobra badge and the side, and the rear bumper says "Cobra". I seen his car like everyday, cruising the parking lot, but he looked too stupid to talk to.

So one night i was gettin gas down the street from my house, and when i pulled in the gas station i see him gettin gas. I parked next to him so i could get some info. I asked him....
"That thing pretty quick?",
and he says..."oh it's real quick..",
so i'm like, "what you got done to it?",
he says...well it's a v6, with cold air intake, custom exhaust and a chip.". .........

i got in my car and left. didn't have to say anything else.

Well my car is an 87 formula 5spd with a flow master catback and tall *** tires on a stock gear (read not fast). As far as I know the car wsa really a cobra - It was just some guy on the highway. There was a GT in the group too (along with a turbo probe and a C5 vette). I whupped both mustangs and the probe (he get whupped be everyone).

I didn't beat the vette .

It just stands out in my memory being that it was the first time I beat a mustang.

That and the first time I downshifted on the highway and floored it . Beat a 4th gen that time too.

OK no offense but if those are your only mods, then it was not a Cobra and might not even have been a GT. And if they were they werent racing. I wouldnt run a Cobra in my car because I would probably get beat.

He didn't say what years they were so if the GT was a foxbody or an early SN95 car then its possible. I agree with you about the Cobra. ANY year Cobra shouldn't have had much of a problem walking away especially at highway speeds.

Why wouldn't you run a Cobra in your car? Aside from the '03's you should be able to hang with them or beat most stock or mild bolt-on cars.

Even a fox body GT with bolt-ons (what Mustang doesnt have bolt-ons) should walk him with those mods. I ran an L98 with those mods and it went 14.8! And by the fact that he says he has too big of a tire and the car is slower, makees me think it is a mid 15 second car! A fox body GT unless an auto should not be a 15 second car!

I wouldnt run a Cobra for the fact that I only trap 102 and a Cobra should trap higher. I realize on street radials I should trap 103-104, but still thats cutting it close! It would be a good race, but I dont think I would be walking away from one!

i think your car would definately beat any year cobra, cept the 03. in my l98 stock i have beaten a few cobra's, and the one's that did beat me, only beat me by half a car length or so. i know my car isn't close to low 13's, so you should walk em.

Thanks for the confidence but I am still worried about them. I tried to run a new SRT-4 but he didnt wann run. I think I could have taken him and would have like to go from like 30 mph roll!

oooo..those things are nasty. i was with my roommate in his accord, and we pulled up next to one of them "neons". i wanted to see what they had, so i got my roommate to start revving on him. so as we go through a light, my roommate drops it into 2nd and goes for a flyby, but the guy in the srt wasn't having it....
he downshifted and jus took off. i was wishin i had my car, but i'm kinda scared to run one of them.

the dual exhaust sounds real nice on those cars. :hail: 4-banger

Just wait until chevy releases the turbo cavaliers Things are going to get worse for our (well my) 16 second V8s. Soon I will have a new motor and at least 13s, so I don't care too much But until then, I will have to fear 4 cylinder, turbo, AMERICAN cars

Ah, valid point 25th. I missed the tire comment. Still, anything is possible, I have seen the 15.5 manual GT, though I assumed that was driver related. More info on his and the cars he raced would help out. I'm assuming he has an LB9.

Yep, those SRT-4's are pretty impressive little cars. I saw one run 14.2 at 97 mph. I think that was his first time running it too.

Honestly I think I beat him for one stupid reason - He has a governor and I don't. My car isn't all that fast, this I know but It will pull on the highway.

Thats why I wanted to run him. I have heard high 90 mph traps, and since my 102 I have a hunch it should be an easy win, especially from a roll! Lately I have had a little more confidence in the car as it should see 104 mph traps in better weather and even though that is slow compared to anyone who races regularly around here, the average LT1 or GT will get taken down!

Re: Re: Re: Just sharing an experience

After i had my car painted I did run badgeless for a while. But i got sick of people always asking me in traffic or at gas stations if it "Is a 5.0???"

So i put em on...and 1 week later i get someone asking... "Hey, what does 5.0 mean? is that the size of your gas tank???"

I give up :lala:
