Me vs. WRX STI
Me vs. WRX STI
I just got 2 new infinity 4x6's for the front and 2 polk 6x9's for the rear and took my roommate out for a drive to hear them .
We went cruisin around for a little while, and i see a brand new 2004 WRX Sti. So i come up next to him and give it a lil gas. He pulls up to my door then slows waaay down. so i start slowing down. he pulls up beside me (there was traffic) and asks.."So you want to go?". My roommate's like "Yeah lets do it!", so he turns onto a side street. I follow him around a bit till he finds a decent straight-away. I pull up beside him on some side road, and we talked a bit. He said he just bought the car 2 months ago, and it's supposed to run 13.4 and I told him i just ran a 13.9
. His girl signals for us to go.
I launch and get about 3/4's carlenght on him, and he stays right there. It was a short road so we shut it down at about 60mph. So we turn around he says he doesn't know how to launch it very good. We go again and he gets a good takeoff. He puts 1 car on me and then starts pulling. My car was pretty hot from driving around (overheats bad) and it wasn't running the best, but that car was pretty fast. He said it was bone stock.

Anywho..
Nice race man sounds like it was a good friendly run.
yah thanx. the guy was really cool, i got his phone number so we could go to the track sometime. it was pretty funny, he asked me if i had a bottle...i was like "no", and then i asked him what he did to it, he said, "It's stock....but you know what this car is?" lol
i think that first run surprised him a little bit.
anywaz, it was fun, even if he was faster.

anywaz, it was fun, even if he was faster. I raced one of em WRXs from about 30 once, got the jump, put about half a car on him, then at 70 he started pulling and by 100 his back bumper was past my door when I saw that little STi badge on there. well, I let off at about 120 when I went into 4th and he was a good 2 or 3 cars up. Well I was slowin back down to the 45 speed limit, and I heard him upshift and keep going....musta been going dam near 150 when he dissapeared. Anyone know if those are 6 spds or 5 spds?? Either way, any thirdgen would have to have some substantial mods (or nos) to keep up with them past a buck, cause he just left me....BTW I dont know if it was stock, never talked to him he coulda upped the boost on his turbos or been sprayin

so i called this guy, and he wants to run me again. He said next time i go to the track to give him a call.
i got some plans for this...
i just ordered my slp runners, and i already have the heavily ported plenum waiting to go on. Unfortunately, i am gunna be stuck with the stock intake manifold for about another month.
But in a week or 2, i am for sure buying the slp 1 3/4 headers, and having them jet coated.
So what do you guys think? Here's a complete list of what my mods will be...
AFPR, 58mm TB, Ported Plenum, Slp Runners, Gutted Airboxes, TB Bypass, Slp Headers, Dual High Flow Catco Cats into a Ravin Muffler, Smog Delete, A.I.R. Delete, and a BBK STB..
You guys think i will take him? I was thinking about seeing if he wants to put a lil wager on it.
Give me your thoughts.

awsome run man. those wrx stis are crazy buy INWO don't bash the EVO, they are cheaper and run .5 less in the quarter and are better at cornering, according to car and driver that is.

STi Owns the EVO in just about every category. I'll give the EVO the smaller hood scoop award though.

sorry, the EVO is .5 slower in the quarter, and in a 1.7 mile road course it ran 1 sec faster than the STI. Thats straight from car and driver, which means a good driver could do the quarter and road course faster than their driver, but they used the same driver for both cars. So the results are fairly accurate comparison wise.

I'm confused. You say don't bash the EVO, say it's slower than the STi but completed the road course very slightly quicker but it's faster even though it has less hp? What? Find the link to this article, I'd like to see it.
You know the STi has a tuneable diff right? STi also has many other items found on the Japanese models that for some stupid reason Mitsu left off the EVO. I like both cars, don't get me wrong, but the STi is superior in the end.

the STI is a better overall car, but i still like the EVO better, why, i don't know, probably the styling of the car.
But, in the long run the STI is the winner

yea i like the EVO too, sure the STi is faster but it does NOT look half as good and i HATE those ugly *** round headlights!! AHHHHH personally im not a fan of subaru at all, in fact i hate them but they did VERY well on the STi and **** the regular WRX is pretty quick too so, neway if i were to buy one of them it would be the EVO cuz i like the styling and throw a bigger turbo on, like a t03-t04... sure the STi could do that too, but, style is EVERYTHING!

The STi is very well equipped from the factory. Tuneable differential..2.5 liter motor only pushing 14 psi whereas the EVO runs a 2.0 pushing ungodly amounts of boost to make less power. Either way they're both nice cars and have their pros and cons..but if it's between the two i'd buy an STi. The displacement factor alone would win me over. Nevermind the VF34 turbo and great fuel system. But then again who am I to talk i drive a 2.0 scooby..
ugh get my mind off this..gotta get the cage in the IROC
