heres the question: I know this is off the topic but heres the deal:

Im up at shore tire today with a friend, and these two guys with 5.0 mustangs come rolling up. Both 80's style. I know both of them. One of them has a 14 second stang,, while the other has a N/A 5.0 with a 306. He claims that his car runs 11.7-11.8s on all motor, and 10s with nitrous?? Now keep in mind, I know this kid, hes running a stock bottom end,, as far as I know with N/a and this car is 100 percent streetable. I see him driving it all the time. Well he says that he will race me for 100 bucks or more, when I get finished with my 383. I just want to know,, Is this possible??? What am I dealing with here?? How could a car that runs 11's be that streetable.?? Iam trying hard enouph to run low 12's high 11's N/A (streetable) with my 383!!!! thats over 70 cubes I have on him. Well I think hes ing all over the place. CAuse I know if it was,,,,, then he would have a wild cam that would bearly pull idle. I also found out hes got about 2 grand in his motor.. thats not much really. SO try to make somehting out of this,,, I know its alot of junk but,, I want to know if this is that easy to do with a 306. I knew they were good for 12's but 11s??? that seems like if it were done he wouldnt be able to cruise around in it daily like he does now. Well let me know!!!! thanks

With a .500 lift cam, NA, 306, Street Warrior cars are pulling low 10s, 10.1-10.3s @ 130+. These cars are not street cars, but if you employ similar ideas and combos that are streetable into another car with power steering and such, yes you can have an 11 second street car that is street friendly.

The only thing that throws it off is the $2000. There is no way to do it for $2000, but for a bit more (quite a bit) he could easily be doing it. I think he is full of s**t, and you would win, but for now we dont have a combo to tell you if he can do it!

I do, thats why i am saying this kid probably doesnt have those kind of mods. But a car with AFR 185s (ported) .500 lift custom cam, ported intake and 10:1 comp will run 11s on tires with the right corresponding mods!

Ill see if I can get some info on his mods.. But i can tell you RIGHT NOW he doesnt have afr's I asked his VERY BEST friend about afr's and he didnt even no what they were. I really dont even know if he has different heads,, He may have ported them,, I know hes' got a cam in it,,, you can hear it,, but its nothing to serious. heres what im guessing he has,, From what ive heard and seen.

306
Shortie headers
H-Pipe
3.73's----(not sure on that)
Cam--not sure on specs.
Full Slicks
pulleys
Cai
Maybe a cobra intake???
Light port work to heads
Nitrous Wet kit 150 shot.
Roller Rockers

I think thats a bout it. Im guessing his car is a mid 12 second car or maybe a bit higher. He seems to have most the same mods you do 25thmustang,, except hes got a cam. Sorry to say I dont think just a cam will put you in the 11's. If you knew the mustang guys around here you would see why I dont typically like mustang owners. When my car was BONE stock I raced a 5.0 that was heavily modded, (pulleys,cai,headers,3.73's,pro5.0shifter,roller rockers, etc. And he raced my l98 Iroc and he won by like 3-4 car lengths max. I thought my car did pretty good since his car was modded,,, but then we pull over and he gets out and, tells me how ****ty my car is and how fast his is. Then i pop my hood and he tells me that the entire tpi system is aftermarket, as well as the electric fan??? This guy was about the most arogant,, ignorant mustang owner Ive ever seen. He runs 14's or something. So ever since then,, Ive pretty much had a bad thought on mustang owners,, and thus far all ive seen is ****heads that own them. But you guys are alright,,I wish there were some cool mustang owners up here!!! theres not many... at least that ive seen. Ill let you all know when I give it to this kid though. Maybe well put a wager down!!! d-am i got to get this thing runnin!!!! Keep you posted,,

Chances are your buddy doesn't just have a cam if you can hear it. Dispite popular belief, a stock 5.0 can pick up nice performance gains from the right cam selection, but if you can hear it lope, chances are he's got aftermarket heads of some kind. An aftermarket intake is easy to spot on a 5.0. Just look at the engine. If it doesn't say "5.0 HO" on the top, it's a different intake. If he's got heads, a healthy cam, and an intake he may well be in the 11s and a solid 150 shot could feasibly even put him in the 10s. It's still not likely, but you've got to find out what kind of heads they are and if there's any port work done. The car has to be set up pretty damned well to be running those ETs, though. It's very doubtful at this point that he's being honest with you about the money he's spent on it. At a minimum, though, this car has low 12 second power with the spray even if he doesn't have an aftermarket intake or heads.

Yes deifnately check what heads he has. The Cobra intake can be made to handle an 11 second car with ease, and without any porting. A mild cam will help alot also, and with the right combo, he could have an 11 second car. A 150 shot will put an 11s car in the 10s also. Find out from his best friend what he has, or have him post his combo up on here! Then we will gladly inform him what to expect!

25THRSS, I don't have any sound clips but I'ts pretty loud. The removal of the cats made it even louder. I suspect that it is not as load as a loudmouth exhaust but it sounds very healthy I get many compliments on it.

I had a 750 on it and it just used alot of gas. I know I could get little more power at high rpm with one but I am going for drivability and the 600 drives ALOT better, plus I am at 5600 feet and I have my 600 jetted lean as it is. 750 felt NO different as far as power.

i've been away from the boards a while (came back under a different name) and haven't heard of a 'street warrior' car. I did a search and came up empty handed. What's a street warrior?

It's a Fun Ford Weekend shootout class. The jist of the class is that they have to run commonly available aftermarket heads and intakes, .500" max lift hydraulic roller cams with stock lifters, and a max of 310 cubic inches on a 10" tire. The top guys in the class are in the 10.30 - 10.50 range.

1st Darrin Kaiser (69 Chevy Nova)
2nd Doug Carpenter (68 Camaro)
3rd Greg Wright (5X Chevy)

Where are the Ford guys at ???

So if you race in your own clubs you dont have to worry about being dominated by GM powered cars... I understand

Lets play nice now,,, but Im soryy to say but in the nhra, ford hasnt won to many championships. Gm powered cars hold almost every record. One of them was broken last week, with a 334 mph pass. By a gm car. I can dig up the results if you want. Or just go to www.nhra.com look around for it. But fords can be seriously quick as well.

Cheap street is IHRA. Cars which must maintain the same weight with certain criteria for engines and no more than 150 horsepower nitrous shots, and the field is dominated by chevys. Just curious why .

Not yet, but I'll be running over them! My car trapped 118mph before it blew up. But it's almost done now, and i'm expecting 120 trap speeds.

How did this go from Corvettes to Mustangs? Someone complained this is off topic, I am inclined to agree.
