I'm pretty sure the '96 GT stangs are good for high 14's to mid 15's. And your big bad L03 isn't going to pull those numbers. But if he thinks he runs 10's then he probably drives like a crackhead so you might get lucky.

And your transmission would performe best if you just put it in Drive (not Overdrive) and let it shift itself.

Later, Garrett

Even though pre '98 GT's are slow (low - mid 15's), they're still quicker then TBI F-bodies.
Sorry, I think hes got you beat.

Im guessing hes got you beat. But almost the only way hell do 10.0 in that mustang is if its got NOS. Mustangs I heard take NOS like a champ. But from what you said its completly stock. However if your car is also stock I dont think youll stand a chance. Unless his is a v6.

The 96 Gt's are a complete joke and don't run any faster than an LO3. A few mods on the LO3 and it should beat it. He would need 500 to the wheels to see high 10's. If you at least have an open air element and a cat-back i would run him. If he beats you it will be by inches at the most.

I raced a guy at the track a while back in really good weather in a 96 or so year mustang. I don't know everything he had, but he for sure had exhaust and I believe gears atleast. As for anything else, I'm not sure. He ran a 15.1 I believe in the high 80 mph range. If he is stock it should be a good race.

shifty is pretty much right, I was running the same at the track (beat a couple on the road too) when all I had on my car was a hypertech chip, open element, edelbrock cat back, and a pair of crappy tires

the stock 96 gt will be a decent match if nothing else, if it weren't for my 91 getting tired now, I'd have enought mods to take any in my area

The new ones arnt that fast anyway. Raced my friends 03 Gt stick. Flomaster, X-pipe, and Cold air kit. Raced him with my tired 305 from 15mph. I spun a little and he pulled away so slowly that If I didnt have a full tank of gas I would have pulled on him. We let off at 60mph and my bumper was at the back part of his door. Last time I was at the track I watched a 99+ Automatic GT run a 15.1 with no wheel spin. It was probably stock. Oh I work at a Ford dealership as a porter and i can say those things are slow. You might not want to mess with a 03 Cobra, certain Saleen's, or a 360R if you arnt running low 13's but those are all supercharged so... thats pathetic what they run for having blowers.

I wouldn't be suprised if he is running 10's in the 1/8th.

Expect him to run about what my car did with the AOD and 2.73s, which was a 15.3. Thats what I would expect from a 96 GT!
