2002 Z/28 vs 1992 RS

I have a 2002 Z/28 with free mods, ran a best of 13.09@108 stock, and my buddies got a 92 RS with a 383 stock crank, forged pistons, and rods, 10.5 comp. He runs a 228/228 551 lift cam, solid roller, and hogged out stock heads, Holley 750 carb I belive with an Edelbrock intake. He recently converted from a T-5 to a built 700-R4 with a 3000 stall and 4.10s and wanted to run the LS1 to see how he did.

Before with the T-5 he pulled around me when I shifted to 4th, damn 7500 rpm redline, but I started coming back afterwards, but I couldnt pass by 120 so I called it a win for him. He ran a 13.5@104 in that trim at the track, but do to the weak rear-end he was just rolling out and hitting slowly, so thats really isnt much of an indicator of the motors potential.

We went from a 20 roll since he said he couldnt hook up. We hit it and were even for part of my 1st, then I started to pull, shifted to 2nd and lost traction for a bit, and he pulled back up, once I hooked up I put about a 1/2 car on him in second, and then 2 or more in 3rd, and probably another couple in 4th. I dont know how much I got him by, but he was solidly in the middle of my rear view mirror and fading fast. Obviously he was faster from a roll with an automatic. I believe his best with the new setup was a 13.2@100 with a 1.79 60'.

We went from a stop, but I got a decent launch and he spun, hence he was destroyed.

Aw, what's with the GM vs. GM stuff? I'm hoping somewhere WAYYYYY down the road that I can hold a match to a stock 4th gen Trans Am, maybe even a stock C5 'Vette. Sounds like the other guy had a nice car, must had a few kinks to iron out.

Another 4th genner on here

Welcome........

By the way your friends car sounds tough as hell, guess he needs a little tuning though as 100mph trap with that combo seems low I'd think more like 110 would be near the mark.
