compared to an LT1...

how do you think this setup would do?

350, 041(double hump) heads, crane 278-2 cam, about 9.5:1 compression, short headers, performer intake and 600cfm carb.

it'l be in a 84 z28 with 3.23 gears and a th2004r trans.

so how do you think it would do compared to an LT1 4th gen?

If that combo makes around 300hp and 330 to 350 torque than you will match an LT1 performance wise. Yours however will be in a lighter car and will be a little faster.

Depending on options usually between 3400 and 3700 for t-top cars and 3600 to 4000 for verts. Thirdgens weight in about 3200 to 3500. Buddy of mine had his fully optioned t-top 1991 RS weighed with him in it and it was a mere 3250 lbs or something close to that. Can't remeber off hand. Anyways, 300hp in a thirdgen goes a lot farther than it does in a 4th gen. I can only imagine how fast my thirdgen would be if I put the motor and trans out of my 95Z in it.

That seems about right. Seems like 13.7 would be the worst you would run especially if you have full exhaust and traction. Seems like 13.5's all day could be obtainable. There are quite a few stock 4th gens that run that. But that was with perfect weather, perfect traction and little driver error. Hmm, the motor swap ideas turn in my head again.

13.5s with an LT1? not likely, in fact out right impossible. the fastest I've seen an Lt1 car run was a 13.9, with a 6-speed and some track bite, fastest I've heard was a 13.8. LS1s are much faster than LT1 cars and the poorer drivers are getting 13.5 out of them

If you can't run 13.7's with a LT1 w/a full exhaust you should just quit driving now.

Hell my buddy's 94 Formy ran a 13.9 with just a K&N and regular street tires

There are a few stockers going 13.5 with little to no mods. Check out camaroz28.com sometime and check out some readers ET's. Its not the norm by any means but it has been done with the right driver. It is not impossible. I only say this because over the years reading the various boards I was shocked to see some of the times these guys were running with the few amount of mods they have. And yes I am well aware of the power differences between the LS1 and LT1. And same thing goes for those cars to. Over on LS1.com there is a guy who runs 12.8's with his 02 Z and he has drag radials and a lid. Other members with similar mods run 13.1's. There are a few freaks out there. And more and more of them seem to be popping up. I cannot wait to run my 95Z when the track re-opens. I am hoping with enough practice I can see 13.9's. GM high tech performace took a 96 Z and almost got it into the 12's with just suspension, shift kit and gears. They got that car to go 13.01 or something like that. It was their "grapes of wrath" project.

Are you kidding me?! A 13.5 out of an LT1 swapped into a thirdgen is impossible? You know thats kind of funny since I have timeslips to prove it. I guess you know all though and my runs were flukes. For one, 3rd gens are a few hundred pounds lighter than a 4th gen, that alone makes up for the difference in time. And whats your point in comparing LT1's to LS1's, they've only got about 50 more horsepower.
