couldnt believe this

A few nights ago I was out cruising and I got stopper next to a newer Cavalier. It looked stock and I didnt see anything special so I didnt give it a second thought. He starts inching up and reving his engine so I figured I'd humor him with an *** beating. The light turns green and before we're even through the intersection I've got a couple lengths on him. But when I look over theres a mid 80's lowered Blazer with me step for step. This Blazer looked like a piece of crap but he must have had some pretty nice mods to keep up with me. Just goes to show you there are always sleepers out there.

sure it was a blazer and not a GMC typhoon? Those are turbo 4.3's. But it could have just been a blazer with a 350 and work done to it..that's a common motorswap for them.

hey man....nice to know the blazer's are keeping up. Just to let you know, the 4.3L in my daily driver(S10 SS) would rip my camaro to shreds AND the camaro is a v8. Neither is stock, but I love killing camaros on the street with a lowered truck, like he said anything on the street is possible.

The 4.3 in our 2K S-10 Xtreme sucks. It revs so high before the truck moves. Our 91 S-10 4.3 seemed a lot better. That truck seemed like it could keep up with my IROC. The new truck feels slow.

A while back I went to the track to see what my LS1 could do when it was stock. I thought I was fast until I got killed by a 10 second blazer, lol.

^ that's why they call them "Blazers" lol! they've got surprising get up and go from that little 4.3, but then again, it's a 350 minus 2 cylinders

i got a 93 s10blazer with 145 k on it and once i got it tuned up, its pretty fast. with some basic mods like full exhaust and cold air kit im sure it could keep up with some thirdgens. thos vortec motors are stong . even with those modesm i think my camaro would be fasterbut not by alot.

My brothers 1991 Blazer isnt too bad for a V6 in such a large vehicle, and my friends 1996 Blazer is very good too, but I prefer the 5.2 in my Jeep over either of them any day! But then again comparing those is stupid, I definately like the Blazers MUCH more than the Explorer 4.0s!

This reminds me of a time when I was cruising around with my buddy in his grand prix. We were at a stop light in a lane that ended shortly. When it turned green, he floored it to get infront of the guy next to us and get over. We looked over and this old conversion van is slowly passing us! Now the GP just had a 3.1, but still, we didnt expect this grizzly old man to be passing us like that!

The Typhoon/Scyclones were the buick 3.8 Turbo motors. ( I wish it was a turbo 4.3......)

The 2.8L motors in the S-trucks was just WAY underpowered. Especially in a 4X4.......

The syclone and typhoon were 4.3 turbos and awd. Too bad Gm never put a manual trans behind them but they were always bad about that.

the typhoons and syclones were turbo'd 4.3L engines and were never GN motors.

Ooops, My Bad. I stand (sit?) corrected. They were indeed 4.3 liters.

You would think, that after having done a top end overhaul with my boss at the dealership I used to work at, I would know this..... They ARE VERY fun vehicles to drive, especially with a little tweaking....... Wonder how it would go in my Firebird..... Mounts and such are all the same, engine is physically smaller. After all, it fits in the engine bay of an S-10...... Hhhhhmmmmm.

An AWD Firebird??? That would be interesting. And, as a side benefit, it would actually be driveable in winter.....
