The monte's of that gen only came with 305's (I think), thats why it was so slow.

I wouldnt go that far. But they did come with 305s. And I think they had around 185 hp...Im thinking about trading my car for a monte. I like the 80s g bodies. theyre sweet!

I change my cars like I change underwear.

Ive had.
85 Z28(tranny broke and I was 2 broke to fix it. also many other things. sold it for 150.00 )
Winter Accord(Junked it)
87 Cutlass Supreme(got stolen, and had a bad oil leak. So when I found it it was prolly seized. Didnt have a place to store it either for an engine swap.)
86 Monte SS(Got rid of it cuz it was winter and didnt want to run. was a total rust bucket anyway.)
Current 83 Trans Am( Daily driver for over a year now. yay)
Prolly regal, national, monte, or olds next.(soon)

This is all in about 2 years.

the montes came with 305's, they had either the l69 ho or the lg4 slow mo. my friend had one with an l69, which is now in my car, pushing 255 at the wheels, and he has a damn crate motor pushing 387 at the wheels, they aren't that slow stock as he ran even with me when my little lg4 was stock.

I raced an '86 Monte CarSlo a year or so back and this kid talked a lot of trash. He said that the 4BBL would smack my TBI b/c the exhaust fell off and he had a K&N.

It was just sad, the look on his face as I let him have the head-start and just sprinted past him at 55.

Good times.

G-bodies weigh anywhere from 3100-3500 lbs without a driver. And of course, they can be made heavier or lighter.

A strange but funny little anecdote about MC SSs...Around here, at least a while back, there was anywhere from 3-7 of them about the same year, some the same colour...WRECKED in the same EXACT places. Explain that.

But, if you're going to race one (any g), watch out. There are MANY ways of making a g-body fast. I remember a time in my 85 Cougar. I was behing one at a red light. It was silver with a crescent moon on the back windshield. I figured I would try 5.0 vs. 5.0. That wasn't the case. He must have picked up a vibe from me, because the light changed and he shot like a rocket, not sqealing ANY. I floored it right after he did and the road broadened. He just pulled and pulled. By the time I got to the next light, he was gone. And I never saw that car again.

Running with a LG4 isn't a great feat.

All the SS's had the L69. They were all auto too.
