91 RS vs 87 LT

A guy at my school just got his dads old 87 LT vert. It's stock, has a v8, that's all I know, that's all he knows, he said he didnt know anything about it but said he'd like to take me up on a race.

I have the ultimate TBI mods done. Can I take this guy?

LT? That was an optional package on the 1987 Camaro Sport Coupe. Nothing special really, and certainly not performance oriented. Anyway, I believe they only came with the LG4, automatic, and crappy gears - 2.73's. Most older LG4 cars are way out of tune, so my vote goes to you!

My friend has a 87 LT but its not a Vert.
The 305 TBI will take it. The L03 is not as bad as people think, as compared to the LG4. You'll win.

my old 84' Z28, untuned and sporting over 100k miles, has run a best time of 16.03 at 85.21mph. this is with a peg leg rear and a automatic trans. thats right where a similarly equipped L03 would be. not all LG4s are the junkyard cars everyone thinks they are

Thats what I mean. I have a friend over here with a LG4 with a cam, headers, exhaust and a 600cfm carb that can beat some L03 cars. I still got him in my hooked up L03 though and he can't stay with my LB9. The 305 motors all together are really underestimated given time and love they will run hard and good. Just gotta throw the right mods at it.
The L03 is still very much the black sheep of the third gen motors though in my eyes.
