99 Eclipse And 4th gen V6

Don't lock it yet, lol. I'm gonna run my 3.4 against this semi-stock Eclipse (GS). All it has is exhaust and some Konieg's. I'm not sure how the 4th gen V6 cars would fare against such a car, but the 3.4 in my car has some minor improvements (full exhaust, light weight flywheel). My car weighs close to 3100 lbs. This will be a money race (not sure for how much). Oh yeah, the Eclipse is a Stickshift, mines an Auto. Thanx

I think you are going to lose. With your mods that motor probably makes about 170hp now which is right around LO3 territory but without the flat power curve. I think he is gonna take you pretty good. Especially up top.

I read that the turbo models

do the 1/4 in 15.2 (with a good driver) This is a GS (non-turbo) the numbers are supposedly 9 seconds to 60 and a 16.9 in the 1/4. The 4th gen camaro (3.4 model) did the same numbers. My car is lighter. oh, one other thing, it'll be a short race 1/8 milemaybe a little more.

Is this the newest body style or the one before? If the newer style is it a V6 or 4 cylinder?

well my girl raced a 3.4 v6 in her focus and killed it up until about 70, and her friend has a stock gs 2002 eclipse in a 5 spd, and it will absolutely kill her, so i'm guessing that you are probably gonna get owned. Just my two cents worth, though.

The 3.8 does hands down and will work over any stock LO3 or LG4. The 3.4 is no match even for an LO3 car. It is pretty anemic.

my 3.4

My intake is different from the 3.4 intake (makes miore torque). Has anyone actually raced one???? 2.0L DOHC eclipse (they were all rated the same). 140 hp (don't know about torque).

Even with your intake and full exhuast you are probably at 170 or 180hp at the absolute most. That gives you a hp to weight ratio of about 18.8 or so (saying your car is 3200lbs). At 140hp that eclipse could be right at that mark as well. It is going to be close. I would not race a V6 one.

OK.....back in the day when Fast & Furious came out, i bought a '93 Mazda MX-3....but hold up, dont shoot me yet. This little mazda came with a 1.8l DOHC v-6 and a 5-speed, which would take a 96 rs. also a 96 eclipse rs and 98 gs. after owning the thing for a little over a year, i FINALLY came to my senses and bought my baby... my 3rd gen 92 rs.....*** i love this car. not bad for a import, but give me American Muscle ANY DAY!

He has an Lt-1........ I consider that muscle. And a 3.4 has a good amount of muscle for its size, it ain't no V8 though.

This is why I bought the 6:

Those V6 Grand Nationals sure are slow for a muscle car, so are the TTA's....

Those motors are completely different than the 3.4 V6. That is like compairing the LO3 to a supercharged LS1.

I test drove a v6 4gen camaro 5 speed and my bro owns a 2000 eclipse gt and he said that it would be a close race if he brought his eclipse down and we raced them two. but I looked at the motor of that camaro and it was the exact same as my 91 regal; I have no idea why it was a hell of alot faster and I don't know my regal IS pretty fast. I think you have a fighting chance against him.
