1995 ninja 600 vs 1984 firedbird 383?

OK I've searched the web over and over trying to find 1/4 mile tests on this bike.So far i cant find it. I know if its around the same as a 1993 it will go low 12's, if its around the same as a 1997 its low 11's. Anyhow a guy at work wants to race me with his 1995 600 ninja. The bike has a pipe and dynojets. He is 6'5 and about 245lbs. My car on street radials can run hi 11's.What do you guys think? Is it a race, or am I going to get blown away?

I used to drag race motorcycles and most guys can't come close to the true potential of a fast bike or a magazine test time. You'll rip him, he'll be lucky to get a high 12.

Kid at my school has a slicked out 78 (I think) Monte Carlo that he drives occasionally on the street. He ran a bike of some sort and stayed even with him all the way out. He ran mid high 11's.

You should be alright. Stay away from other bikes with 900cc or bigger. They are FAST.

Thats pretty Bad A$$ to out run a bike in a car. :lala:

If you do run him do not run from a stop or even a slow roll. You'll be playing catch up the whole way. If you can run him from a high speed roll and take it up well over 100. Bikes have a huge aero disadvantage at speed. I've seen a few bikes taken at high speeds when the same car couldn't run him from a stop.

In a street race MPH is MUCH more important than ETs. What does your car trap? Around 120 or higher and that bike won't have a chance.

I just got my dual 3" exhaust on and I am hoping to get my trap speed back up to 118-119 mph. I was trapping 116 mph thru single exhaust.I will find out wednesday the 21st hopefully. The race is going to happen soon, because the friendly trash talk at work is starting to get thick

A little off topic but does anyone know what a 1999 Katana 600 runs in the 1/4 mile. I have searched all over but can't find any numbers

I raced an early to mid 90s 600 katana back around 1995 at the strip with my 1980 berlinetta. We both ran 12.5, but i took him by a length off the line and kept it the whole way.

I know those older 600 bikes were very slow almost hard to belive they really ran what they claimed but, you may have your hands full there?

Depends on the 600. Kawasaki made a few 600 bikes. They made a ZX-6 and a ZX-6R, with the ZX-6R being the faster. I have either a '93 or '94 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6 sitting at my buddy's house right now. We got it a few months ago and are just getting to work on it. If its a ZX-6, you have nothing to worry about. If its a ZX-6R, he should be running low 12s if not 12 flat. If I remember right, the ZX-6 has a bit more torque but can't rev as easily as the higher-HP'd ZX-6R. I also think the ZX-6R has a bit more compression. I knew all of this a few weeks ago, lol! I'll look into it a bit more since we just started to work on the bike. We won't have it running for a while yet probably, but we'll see

I found out today that the bike has more than just jets and a pipe. He had a total performace rebuild on it in 2003.Oh well,I'll still race him and see just what he has. Even if he's mid 11's I should be able to hang with him on my street tires. Maybe I can get my buddy to borrow me his slicks
