Mustang and me

anyways I was cruising around on the highway last night and came up beside a first gen mustang at a light neither of us reved our engines so we just took off normal slowly speeding up but purposely staying beside each other then I stepped on it a little and pulled ahead so he floored it and blew past me and of course I had to answer so I dropped it into 2nd and was gaining on him like he was standing still but a van was in front of me so I had to drop back and go behind him and come back up I gave him a thumbs up and we talked for a second doing 30 miles an hour he said he had someone following him so he would catch me later.........

and yet again I dont get a real race I guess I should go to the track sometime does anyone on here know of a track in montgomery alabama

You have any mods on it, or know what motor he had in his car? The first gen Mustangs were slow (when kept stock) but I would think a TBI 305 would walk one as easy as that sounded. Anyways would have been a nice kill!

Mine is bone stock except a muffler the engine has 180,000 on it but sometimes you can hit a very small power band and you hear a purring sound from the engine and it takes off

and no I dont know what he was running
he might of just been a bad driver or it could have been a straight 6 I dont know

Yeah most people don't realize a lot of those 60's and 70's car's weren't that fast. Sure there were quick models, but many of the mainstream production models were 15/14 second cars. I mean sure that's fast, but 40 years later, it's not fast enough.

I've pulled up to many early muscle cars with cams thumping away looking all badass, only to race and win or tie with them.

My most surprising race was in my 5.0 LX against a Chevelle. I seriously thought i was gonna get my *** beaten. We finally got an open stretch of road and i pulled 2 cars off the line and stayed there against it. The guy couldn't beleive my motor was basically stock. He rattled off half the summit catalog to me. Some of these guys seem to forget, 400HP in a 4500 pound car = 250HP in a 3000 pound car.

But only 1000 made in a 2-year span.

Take a normal production 289 hi-po Mustang. 14 second car at best

Yes your right mid 14 to Low 14s with the 289s. But hey that aint so bad, It still smoke most cars on the Road Your right about old muscle cars tho. You Can get a 275hp Lt1 and prob spank most Muscle cars even if they have 330hp. Those muscle cars were so damn heavy
