If he does have that 300lbs extra weight then no contest. You should pull on him. he will be running mid high 15's.

Hes gonna take you. If its a real Shelby Daytona, its a 14sec car. 2.5 turbo....hes gonna win. Run him anyway though.

You have him, if he was stock and didn't have all the crap in his car it would be close, but since he has extra stereo stuff you will take him. Stock the Daytona should do mid 15s I believe. There is no way an 89 Daytona will run 14s stock because they were only a Stage 2 turbo.

I think it will be close because of his extra weight. The turbo 2 is nothing to mess with in a light car like the Daytona (eventhough its still pretty heavy). You should have the advantage with your mods. Definitely race him and let us know the outcome.

Well, I had an 85 Chrysler Lebaron a couple of years ago with a 2.2 Turbo 1, automatic, 4 door.....and it ran a best of 15.58 at 1000ft elevation. That was with 135,000 miles on it. So yes, a 2.5 Turbo II with a 5-speed wil more than likely beat you. I guess its worth a shot though.

I think the turbo daytona could very well win if you don't get him off the line. It should be close. The '80s turbo mopars all ran pretty good (:hail: GLH-S).

we havent raced yet...

this kid is stalling to race, i know he is takeing out all his audio stuff. so now the race will be very close, but he is saveing for a front mount intercooler with that he will walk all over my littel 305 TPI but i will probebly race him friday... befor he can mod his car

when we race here are my plans...
take out spare and jack, lower rear tire psi to 22 (hot), nasty burnout, brake stall to 2000rpm and launch... on 1/2 tank of gas too

His BOV doesn't mean jack as far as performance goes. I agree that you'll have a tough time with him if he takes out the sound system......unless he can't drive the thing. I've seen WAY too many guys in what should be fast cars who just can't seem to figure out how to put the power down!

Those Mopar 4 bangers with the hair dryer have always been pretty quick. I oughta know, I own one.

I had a 84 turbo z 5 speed

It was quick but only had about 8 lbs of boost. I raced a lot of 5.0 mustangs back then around 1988 and could beat them from a roll when I could keep the revs up and then nail the turbo I could usually pull away!!!!!!
