That should be ok. People have different opinions on this as some will say 500 and some will go as high as 1500. I'd say to change your oil if you haven't yet and go for it I've built a few "race" engines for the street and I've never put anything over a couple hundred miles on them and never had a failure.

I ran mine at HRP last night and it did a 13.1@106. Mods in sig. That's right around 315rwhp for an auto TA.

i think it'd be a very good, close race. If i lose, I'd have to blame it on the lame 2.73's

what do you guys think?

I know I am a little late getting in but I have a 95LT1 that runs 14.0 stock. With tuning and headers it is running 13.7. My friend has an '01 T/A. You can expect it to run mid 13's maybe better. I just don't think your crate motor will do that. As far as his driving skills go, you could win in the first race or so but after he learns to drive it right with that stick you would lose. My son drove the 95LT1 for the first time at 18 years old with little experience on a manual and ran the car for its stock best of 14.2 uncorrected. It took him about three passes to do it.

after a nice towing home...

UPDATE: Saturday night I walk out to my car after a hard days work, start her up, put her in gear, and it lurches forward. Grab reverse, goes backwards good and all. Go to grab overdrive, no resistence in the shifter, slides down to 1st.... snapped the shifter cable.

Pop the hood the next day, puddle of gas on the intake also We sourced the leak to the fuel line o-ring on the secondary side. The whole secondary side plate deal was also about 3 ratchet turns loose Tightened that, sopped up the gas, no more leaks but, haven't ran it since sat.

Picking up parts tomorrow before work, tackling the carb and cable problem this thursday...

wish me luck,
brandon

That's the sign to wait another 500 miles until you race, just to clear up any other surprises.

Good luck!
