This guy at work is annoying me, wants to race

91 Z28 L98 vs 91 240RX SE Nissan

His car has roughly 150 horses, 5 speed.

I cant take it anymore before I blow my brains out. Extremely annoying. What should I tell him?

I figured this goes in the history forum since his car is old news.

Never noticed there was such a forum for this.
Anyway hes beggin me to race him and I cannot figure out why. He keeps telling me "hey lets race, I have dual overhead cam, hey lets race, I have dual overhead cam, hey lets race, I have dual overhead cam".

HAHAA :lala:

Maybe he's packing a turbo or an sr20det and doesnt want to tell you?

But you said he's packing 150 horses. His car, stock, should have 155 if it's still the ka24de.

Anyways, just tell him what you're packing and then compare.

I think Im going to just punch him in the face.
No but his car is totally riced out. Front bumper about to fall off. Theres duct tape on various sides of the car...

But hes damned serious.

Ill let him grow out of it. I was like that too with my old 1990 Taurus 8 years ago. I had to convince EVERYONE that it was "really an SHO".

Put him in his place. Races are fun, even if you know you're gonna roast him. I'm sure it will shut him up.

If its still got the KA24DE in it, you'll waste him. Those 240SX's sucked. The Sentra SE-Rs and NX2000's were decently quick (good for low 15s stock), but nothing compared to an L98 car.

Just hope he didn't shove an SR20DET under that hood..

Don't assume it going to be an easy race. I just saw a "Silvia or 240" with the front bumper missing with a huge air to air intercooler at a wheel shop on the parkway this weekend. It had "embarass a V8 car written all over it. Try to race him for fun or bragging rights. Once you findout exactly what he has, plan accordingly and kick his ***.

Yeah, you guys are right. It does smell a little funny, like an sr20 or something, but if he actually said it's stock, then you know what to do.

Maybe pop hoods sometime to find out for sure?

I have seen under the hood. No turbo, just a stock motor (whatever it is, 1.8 liter i think). Stats for his car are like 17secs in the quarter.

Tell him to go to a drag strip, and run his car. If he can bring you back a timeslip anywhere in the 14 second range, you will be happy to race him. That will shut him up, the deal is now on him to prove he's worthy of a race. And a stock 240 SX will not run in the 14's if it was thrown out of the Space Shuttle.

Sounds like you have NO idea what you are even talking about. A Silvia and a Skyline are two COMPLETELY different cars.

And to the original poster:
Quit being a wuss. Why do you even have your car if you won't race it?

Just destroy him so he'll leave you alone. I doubt he would have a chance if you pulled up to the starting line in reverse.

Another AMEN.

And it's 2.4l, not 1.8. Get this- Nissan used the 2.4l truck motor in their american bound cars because 'americans like more displacement'

Oddly enough, in japan they were called the 180sx - 1.8l motor, with MORE POWER. LOL

Actually the 180SX was a bit different than the 240SX. The 2.4L KA24DE was, in fact, a truck motor. They put it in the car because Americans like more torque, not displacement (though they do go hand in hand). The KA24DE has a decent amount of torque and can be a decently fun car to drive being RWD and all, but it doesn't rev very well at all. Damn strokers

I always wanted to buy an NX2000, buy an SR20DET (about $1400 with ~30k miles), and buy an SR16VE head and put that on there. That'd be one wicked street FWD car and could be sleepy-as-hell-lookin'. Variable valve timing and a turbo

Then again, I'd much rather just twin turbo my 305, but we'll see once I get the new heads/intake on..speaking of which I have to go port those some more

In any case, if that 240SX is anything close to stock, you'll rape him, they are high 15 to mid 16 sec cars..

lol a bit different because of the engine. That's what I said. But you're right about the tq thing.

Other than that, and besides which side the steering wheel is on, I thought those s-13's were the same.

Apparently you and "stu" has never been in a wreck due to street racing. Or had a license taken away for the same reason. When you grow up and move out of your parent's wing youll understand the importance of money and reliable transportation. Then when you decide to get a job you will understand how important it is not to have a felony on your record (or any arrest for that matter)
And Im not talking about an $8 hour job at walmart changing oil.

being a previous 240sx owner id say definatly race him, the ka motors in those cars were dawgs , and if he does have a sr20det its most likely a "red top" out of the s-13, rated around 205hp the only ones id stress would be s-14, or s-15 sr's. but those are pretty few and far between, i beet a 240sx in my 5speed lo3 so i wouldn't swet it

Whats the difference between racing a 17 second car and getting on the highway? Seriously, if you are worried about breaking your car doing the very thing you built it for, then you are in the wrong sport. Or you need to learn how to build your set-up right.

And why are you laughing at me?

Im not really worried about breaking it (second vehicle) as I am about getting tickets, accidents, reckless homicide (which is just a big word for "running over someone" ), etc.

And Im not really "in the sport". I dont drool over getting new injectors in the mail or dream about going fast. I just dont care. Its a car man. Point A - point B. Iv always liked these cars but I dont plan a day around racing some nutcase highschool drop with a deadend job, girlfriend and 4 kids.

Anyway the original question was about what I should SAY to him. IE show him some statistics on paper. Much cheaper and less retarded.

ha this guy is no fun what so ever, why did you even post this.. usually people post to see what chance they have of winning... you probably go out in your car he goes out in his and you make racing noises like your racing. This is pethetic... you go to an empty back road where you can see everything around you and race. Why even waste your time on this site if your not into any kind of racing or making your car better..

"Its a car man. Point A - point B"

You shoulda got some metro or sumtin.. and just say you can beat everyone cause you kno you wouldnt race them anyway..I'm ashamed... poor camaro getten turned down by his owner to some *****. damn i can't stand it .

give anyone your car, anyone. and you dont worry about the ticket, make sure they can drive, give them the keys, ha ur scared to race just admit it.. your not into the sport cause ur scared need some of these 0 0 lol

LOL, thats funny. gots to be my all time favorite pic! AssClown!!

Anyway, the only hard core evidence to stop a poser punk ri c er is to race him. Why be afraid? You will be already a car or two ahead by the time you hit 60 and that aint over the speed limit in some places!!! I know you can find a short stretch of secluded road somewhere where you can walk this guy hard. It will be a short race. Trust me on this one.

I've driven a full on JDM S-14 Silivia before, (my friends car), SR20DET n all, pretty mean car, for an import. But I'll take me Z28 over it anyday.

People in Hawaii love two specific kinds of imports either hondas or drift cars (AE86s and 240sx's) Personally, I dont hate them, but as I said before, nothing beats a good Thirdgen, for me at least. Back to the topic: with a busted torque arm, and being a crappy shifter (im just learning how to drive stick, my last thirdgen was an auto), I have no problem destroying most imports. 240s are by no means fast, but theres a huge aftermarket for them, sort of like how mustangs have a huge aftermarket, except 240s dont come decently fast stock. Nowadays though, it seems like everyone and their brother owns a hachi or a 240. Plus, they pay exorbitantly high prices for them.... an L98 would destroy one easily. Id say, race him, and show him his place... it gets annoying after a while, I let this guy talk **** to me because I didnt want to waste gas, but I ended up shutting him up anyway, civic w/ exhaust..... you can imagine what happened.

Just punch him in the face and while hes crying go pee in his gas tank. I know what you mean about not wanting to be stupid and race, I totaled my favorite car racing someone on the street.
