Drove into a storm but the LIGHTNING missed

this happend a couple months ago and i posted it over on transamGTA but i forgot to post it here

LOL sorry im still cracking up over that title..ohhhhhhhhk.

No for real the drove into this lightning storm...i guess it was there cruise night or some **** but there was like 12-15 of them!!!...i was like "what the **** is going on here" lol...you guys seen the video of that Ls1 car pulling up on the line of TTA's right?..well same thing here, only they were 6 in each lane 2 lanes...this is a 4 lane road there in the right 2 and im in the left center...i roll up the line of six real slow idling so they know im not a pushover ...the lead guy gave me that "riiight" look and said "you aint got nothing". i said "i hope your not stock" he laughed of course...well light goes green and i leave off idle..theres smoke noise and a revlimiter, 2nd gear powershift gets the *** squirly but of course i stay in it..i hear that distinctive blower wine getting quieter and quieter...at 80 i have 4-5 cars\trucks on him...we get back down to normal speed and he wont even look at me..i mean i stare right at him and hes stone strait hahahaha it was halarious...couple miles up the rest of the group catches up and start busint there buddies *****...i mean there hanging out the window yelling "you got your *** whipped" hahaha...well he was stock obviously and not much of a challange..Another guy with some mods wanted some...he said he had "everything but a pully",..well WTFE dude lol..we went from a 35 roll...right in the sweet spot of 2nd gear..we wait...and wait....and wait...and then im like "**** this" and nail it..i get the jump in him but due to my tirespin were door to door...i pound 3rd and when i actually have traction i start pulling him....and really pull him hard..nothign like the stock one but more then enough to come to the conclusion that i have a lot more speed then him anywere...so i back out....counting this one and the 3 stockers i raced im 4 for 4....i guess the "fast guy" in the crew was waiting and watching to see if i was game for him...after seeing me whoop on some of his buddies, i guess he wanted some...he asks me "stop or roll" i told him "its on you i dont want any excuses"....he wants a roll so we go from 35-40 again...im not gonna argue about that speed selection ...we rolling along and i hear the blowerwhine and the double downshift and i ease into it for a split second and i hook it up,..BAAMMMM theres 3rd and he starts pulling me WHAT?!?! no way...by 110 hes got me by 2 lenghts!!!.....i was like "sweeeet"....this guy was really cool...he gave me props for whoopin on his buddies and told me he runs mid 11's@120....

i think it runs really strong...the carbed intake actually outperforms the EFI one...it increases low end grunt by as much as 20 ft pounds and a little less on top..when i had the stock cam in it i would walk my dads 01 M6 z...(it weighs 3110 pounds)....

SRT-10 BLAH!!!!!

The ones I have seen at the track run a consistent 13.5-14.0

Those times do not justify the extra dough they are asking for those things

Ill give you credit, I couldnt attempt a powershift into second on the street, the tires would just be spinning. As a matter of fact I cant floor it in first or much of second, but every cars different!

The SVT is only the quickest pickup you can get from the factory. It only has 380 hp and will beat your car while towing a boat. Why repspect that?

Well that's awful mature of you. If you don't know what it is, how would you have any idea of what it was capable of outside of talking out your ***?

Too bad any stock L will demolish your over-hooded 2.8L terror.

LOL, Id like to see a Lightning beat an SRT-10 stock for stock. I dont know what kind of idiots youre seeing driving those Dodges, but they can run a lot better than high-13's. Not to mention, they look a lot better than the Ford too.

But seriously, it's one thing to have respect for a fast car/truck, and a whole other thing to LIKE that car/truck....

well that "the *** got squirly" comment was a bit understated...it was more like "there was more smoke noise and a revlimter" .....from an idle roll in first gear (5 mph or so) and if i nail it it will jump up and scream and get maddd nasty...in 2nd gear at 2,500-3,000 rpm's it will lite the tires up pretty easily

In the 1/4, a STOCK Lightning will stomp the **** out of a STOCK SRT-10. To 100 mph, a lightning is faster by close to, if not over a second. Only above 110 does the Dodge start to beat the Ford, and to only have a top speed(as certified by Guiness Book of Records) of 8 MPH faster, while packing 125 more HP, doesnt say too much for Dodge. The Ram is larger in profile, has a higher stance, can't tow as much, and is $15K+ over the cost of the Lightning. And, even if you do have the extra $15K, anyone with half a brain would buy the L, get a Twin Screw blower, upgrade the exhaust and tranny, do a little here, a little there, and have a truck that can walk the SRT, from 0-150+, and still have an extra $10K left over. I know my choice ..................................

I do believe you have no clue as to what youre talking about. The Lightning cant hold a candle to the Dodge. Like I said, I dont know what kind of idiots youre seeing driving these SRT's, but theyll walk all over a Lightning.

the SRT-10 has the record for the fastest pickup at 154.58 mph on a oval track. the lightning had the record at 147.54 mph
http://www.dodge.com/dodge_life/news...ld_record.html
http://www.allpar.com/model/ram/ram-srt-10.html

0-60 in just over 5 seconds if you get good traction

500hp/525 lbft torque

13.6 at 105mph
Car N Driver
http://www.dragtimes.com/Dodge-RAM-S...slip-3287.html

ford lightning is 380hp and 0-60 in the same time as the SRT-10
here are some slips
this 00 went 13.648 at 101 stock
http://www.dragtimes.com/Ford-F150-L...slip-4606.html
another 00, 13.7 at 99 all stock
http://www.dragtimes.com/Ford-F150-L...slip-1234.html

so i would say drivers race for the most part, but SRT 10 traps alot higher and should out run the lightning in all contests based on the superior power

Stock for stock the SRT-10 is faster in the 1/4 by 3 tenths or so. Trap speeds are nearly identical. However, when modding, the HP per $ ratio crowns the lightning the winner. There were three running at our track this past year and the stock one ran 13.5's and two ran 12.2's all night with DR's and a pulley.

The 99-00 had 360 factory horses...the 01-04 had the 380 factory horses. I have a bud that ran his 04 L at a 13.2 103....He is bone stock to the paper filter. His 60' was a 1.9 (I think)

I would LOVE to see a stock SRT 10 do that

hell...check out my times with my L .....They could not keep up with me!!! I too had a 1.9 60' time. If I get a 1.7....look out 12's :hail:

check that out. saying car n driver went 12.9 on stock SRT10. times range from 13.1-13.8's. same as LS1 cars, and same as lightnings.

another one...
http://www.dodgeforum.com/m_11632/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm
comparing SRT10 with lightning and whatnot. SRT10 is tricky to drive cuz its a stick while lightning is auto.

car n driver first test was 13.6 at 105, now they got it down to 13.4 then i believe 12.9 as they say.

you must be a good driver and its tricky to get that Ram down the track with those 22"s LOL so mostly, a lightning vs ram is a drivers race

SRT will trap higher, but as stated above.....2004 L STOCK ran a 13.2 @ 103. I would rather not spend the extra 15 G's on 4 more MPH in the trap. I would just get a little modding done on the L and be in the low 12's
