Evolution gets a lump of coal for present :)

We're driving down this 2 lane road all by our lonesome at about 45 or so, and he keeps doing this thing where he speeds up to my front bumper and drops back. . and he continues to do this over and over. So finally I pace him and look over and do the honking thing 3 times . . . and we're off. In a matter of about 2.5 seconds I've got 3 cars on him and just walking all the way.

I think it was just somebody who had the n/a 4 cyl version, but I don't know anything about them, except every import guy thought that it was ***'s gift to the world after "2 Fast 2 Furious."

. . . atleast I think there's a quick version of it?. . . mid 13's maybe?

It may have been one of those OZ Rally edition Lancers. They are N/A and Slooooooooooo.

Yeah, I knew it was the weaker version, but after about 5 times of the bumper/slow down/ bumper thing, I figured I would just leave him behind me.

How would I know that difference between the n/a one and the better one? . . . besides the noise of a turbo, because I always have my music up, and it's too cold to put the windows down.

The badging would probably be the easiest way, if you can see it. The Evo has that huge wing as well as a plethora of other specific items, rims, big brakes (Brembos I believe). Once you've seen a few, they'll stand out.

Yea, and EVO looks quite a bit different and you can really hear the turbo for sure, my friend has one. They do make a newer Lancer Raliart Edition that is NA and runs high 14's low 15's stock. The EVO's run low-mid 13's stock dependind on the model. The OZ Lancer is a 16 second car.../

Axle/Gears: stock??
yeah correct me if i'm wrong the evo 8 ran like 13.6 in the 1/4 with a good driver. the evo also has a very agressive front end compared to the other evo's. also correct me if i'm wrong but i think the stock evo 8 is runing 20 psi.

how fast are the RS's... 17s? 18s? ... 19s?

Yeah big difference between a stock Lancer ES and an Evolution....if you look at en Evo you'll definitely recognize it as being different than the other Lancers.

According to what I found

Lancer Ralliart...I can see it being confused a bit with an EVO, but the front ends are very different.
162 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque
0 to 60 mph: 7.3 sec
1/4 in 15.5 at 91.5 mph

Lancer Evo VIII
271 horespower and 273 lb-ft of torque
0 to 60 mph: 5.3
1/4 in 13.4 at 102.5 mph

Base Lancer ES and O-Z Rally Edition (just an appearance package). They're slow
120 horsepower and 130 lb-ft of torque
0-60 in 8.9
1/4 in 16.98 at 83.20 mph

There is a new Lancer Evo RS...which is faster than normal Evo because it is a special edition that has weight reduction and gets rid of a lot of creature comforts plus a few other goodies. Also a new Lancer Evolution MR set to come out for 2005 has a few other performance improvements too.

...well, if it was the OZ, it's the equal to giving a Toyota Corolla a good thrashing....

i got a lancer oz and they are low as crap (i just like how they look lol), but i would not waste my gas raceing it with my camaro. there is aslot of guys out there with a lancer and just slap the evo body kits and badges on. u can tell for sure by the body shape, if the front fenders and rear quarter flare out like a subaru then its a real evo if not and its basicaly all sleek then its a lancer converted.
