You can boost the hell out of a diesel and the damn things wont blow up. You'll never do something like that in an f-body. Only thing you can do is make it up in weight. vs. power.

great point but you can only lighten a fbody so much and you`d still need a good bit of power

yeah i'm gonna have to call on this one. He very possible could be making that torque number but the horsepower number dosen't add up.Diesels make a ton more torque than horsepower, most trucks that are modified have like 350-400 hp with a torque number in the 700-800 ft.- lbs. I'd like to see the proof on this one.

I too will throw up the flag. TQ sounds about right given the extensive nature of his mods but I doubt he is pushing past 350hp. None the less I am sure it moves. Most trucks of that nature run 11's.

i have seen a video of one guy making a big ole diesel F350 run deep 11's

his power numbers were 800hp or so and 1500 lbft torque. not sure if thats RWHP numbers or not.

if your friend has 1300 hp, he has over 2000lbft torque.

the point still remains that trucks are trucks and huge diesels with huge turbos are expensive and i gaurantee for the same price or less you could make a car run faster i guess its kinda neat that some big trucks can push low 1/4 mile numbers but to me they still arent race vehicles a truck is a truck and racing isnt what they are built for (initially atleast) IMO

OH and of course with power vs weight ratio you wouldnt need to come close to those high numbers in a third gen to beat that diesel
case in point: if you took every dime of money he put into that truck including what he paid for it...i bet you could buy a thirdgen and make it run faster for the same price or less

lets say he bought that truck and spent $ in mods that totaled 15000 kelleybluebook.com rates them at around 11-12k for 95'
my GTA cost me 1500...with 13500 in mods like a pro built race engine 5k turbo/charger/or Nos 5k any extra bolt ons and suspension upgrades 2.5k tranny upgrades 1K and im runnin 9s and that diesel is watchin me fly by

sorry i dont mean to come off at all rude or anything its just that here in TX everyone with a truck thinks they are race vehicles and then when you burn them they get all pissed

There's a guy around here with a turbodiesel cummins with like 800 hp and 1600 ftlbs. His turbo whine is deafening even at idle. However I think the poster is full of BS. The guy im talking about has a redline around 3000 RPM and to get a diesel to wind up to the levels needed to get hp as close to torque as it is would require an engine made of pure unobtainium. I think those trucks are a great performance platform, I'll probably get around to one one of these days. First thing you'll wanna do is get rid of that 305. If you wanna get him for cheap build a carbed 355 with a well chosen set of heads and a big cam.

What we need are his 1/4 mile numbers and trap speeds.

My dad has a new W9000 Semi, 500 hp,2000ft/lbs.

Um, yeah, I'm gonna have to join in this party too. I dont think those numbers are anywhere near real for a diesel.

the current record for the 90's cummins engine is 620whp and 1700wtq. well when i say current i mean as of last year. a customer of mine made those numbers. he used our dyno quite often and he had about $5000 in mods on that truck. it runs mid 13's because of its weight.
