Smoked an eclipse for $250 :)

I have been working my **** off the last few weeks and haven't had a chance to log on. This happened mid morning saturday and we raced at 10:30pm.

Sorry for all the detail but I am still grinning

I had a guy (probably 25 or 30) ask me a ton of questions about my 3rd gen and about how fast it was ect in front of a tractor supply store on my way out. Didn't go into detail on how fast it was but I said it would run.

He said, "I got a friend that has an eclipse that runs 9's with nos!" He will race you for money. I gave him my phone and he called the guy.

They talked for a sec and handed me the phone, the guy on the other end was a cocky know-it-all and said "you know I run 8's on street tires?" I said "In the 1/8th?" he said "HAHAHAHAHAHAH 1/4 MILE HAHA" I said, "you drive it everyday?" he said, "yah" I knew the guy was lying out his *** and ask him where/when. He said 9:30 and we met up at a gas station.

I waited and waited and the guy didn't show, I was just about to leave when the guy pulled up...followed by other ric3rs

There were 4 imports and a truck and about 10 people...I was kinda pissed off but just by hearing the guys car run it wasn't anything like he said and by far less than I expected.

He popped the hood and all I saw that wasn't stock was a k&n airfilter. It had a turbo, but I THINK it may have been an aftermarket. He said he was running a 200shot of NOS...I looked in his window and he had a 3 pillar gauge on the window, and enough blue neons to give anyone a headache. He said "what do you have under the hood?" I said "small block chevy" him and a couple of guys started walking over to my car and I said "this isn't a car show are we going to race or not?" He said "I gotta see what your running! I showed you mine!" I told him that I didn't ask to see his and he offered it up. He said he wanted to check for a NOS bottle and I said "You have nos and I don't, you can use it" He looked through my windows blah blah

He told me to follow him and we were going to go from a roll on the 3rd honk...I said "why from a roll? can't get traction?" he said, "no I just don't wanna burn my racing clutch" I really couldn't help it but I laughed and said we go from dead stop or we don't race.

He said "how much money are you going to throw down on this race?" I said $500 knowing this kid didn't have that kind of cash (I didn't have it on me either)...he said "uh uh um I was thinking more like $100" I said, "meet me halfway at $250." he said he was going to have to go to the atm and blah blah blah I said "I don't have anywhere to go I'll wait on ya" His friends were of course pressuring him into going and he did....I thought for a minute he wasn't coming back because the atm was like a mile away and it took 15 minutes.

Anyway, he said to meet him at this intersection which I know has a ton of traffic on Saturday so I said I had the perfect spot, no traffic tons of lights a huge shoulder ect ect (huge diary road I do all my tuning out there and don't see anyone) He and all his ric3 posse followed me out and I said I would let him run the road once so he could get a feel for it. I let him have the right lane which he didn't seem to understand I told him that we we go until the service road intersects into the dairy and there is a big white sign. He drove it over twice (not getting on the gas)

I got in and we lined up (which he was trying to nose out a few inches) and the truck that was with him gave 3 honks and we were off. I had a bad launch, but nothing like his...he spun and spun (I think he floored it?) and I had him by AT LEAST 10 cars...I let off and coasted down to 90mph he did a fly by...I turned around and stopped on the road right before where we started...he stopped (his buddies still a ways off) and said his NOS bottle lost pressure and he couldn't get it out of first gear and he wanted another race. We lined back up and he left on the second honk...wtf....I launched bad again and I was on his tail hit third and really started hooking on him, I didn't notice how much I got him by this time but I coasted down and he did another flyby.

I turned around and stopped at the same place and he started in on how his timing and he got out his check book (!!!!! ) I said "you went to the atm man, don't give me that ****" he handed me the money and I was on my way.

I kinda felt bad because this guy had no idea what he was doing, but he isn't some highschool kid and I guess he will learn from his mistakes. I'm still grinning

Wow, you guys are lucky to find some dumbasses that wanna race for top dollar. All i run into are guys that run their mouths but "only race for fun", and the real fast guys that wanna take my money. I hope someday I find someone in a car like that. Good kill man.

A friend of mine had a 2nd gen GST that he used to take out to the local spot that all the racers in our area used to run(until the cops cought wind of it of course). And he would go out and act exactly like the guy your talking about and get all kinds of muscle car guys to race him thinking he was dumb. In the end he always walked away with the cash. Pretty sad to considering his car was only running mid 12's and he would get basically stock Ls1's to run him for $200 or more. Its all about the acting sometimes.

Good kill man.....Nice way to handle business with the idiot...cant say all import drivers are fools, hell I may be one soon and I definately wont be like that, its the cokiness and lies that kill him...liek this dude at work had a classic story the other day. He said he was in his buddies VW Rabbit and they raced this Vette and hit 200 mph on the 2nd street bridge (KY to In bridge here in louisville)...needless to say I recommended him to the Comedy Caravan after I finally could stand back up lol.

What a tool, glad you took his money. When he asked to look at your car, you should have told him he should have thought of that before wasting all your time setting up a race.

Kinda reminds me of the line in the F&F where Paul Walker tells the part store owner that he needs one of the "big ones", better yet, make it 2. Referring to the NOS. Like it's relative how big the bottle is, it's the size of the shot, not the bottle...IDIOTS! Anyway, nice kill man. Someone needed to show that moron what he didn't have.

You are quoting a movie and comparing it to how people in real life act?

I won't deny that there are plenty of people who act like they are living in a bad movie.

Yeah, definitely sounds like a GST. My buddies GST made 250 HP at the wheels and he couldn't launch to save his life on street tires. After breaking three Tranny cases, he finally sold it and swapped his mods over to a AWD Talon and runs 12.8 @ 106. With the GST, he couldn't touch me stoplight to stoplight. The Talon is another story!

I won't even bother with these guys. Most of the time there just straight

My buddy in his '95 Talon kept eggin' me on to race him. Said he had 500 turbo charged ponied under the hood. Told me there was no way a third gen could keep up with him. He owns a coffe shop.

Too bad, I don't get free coffee anymore.
