Does a 93 integra with one or two free mod stand a chance against my close to stock 86 camaro with a 5.0 LB9 Automatic?

One more question, has anyone ever run against any of the 96 Impalas? I hear they haul some serious culooo

What model Integra? 2 or 4 door, stick or auto? What do you have done to your car. Stock vs stock I would give you the advantage.

96ish Impalas were mid 15s at best.

AHAHA
Impalas mid 15's? with the 5.7's? Thats crazy, I figured they would slaughter my ***! I run low 15's with a 305! As for the integra I'm not even sure the guy just keeps talking ****, him and his cocky little friend. I guess I'll take the time to go check it out.

I work with the guy and I heard talking about his car like it was the big **** one day and told him I would whoop his ***. But he refuses to got to the track and I refuse to street race. Ahh we will settle it eventually.

But the Impalas high 15's? The SS version? Man thats crazy!

If it's a manual and he can drive it could be close if it's only an LS. If it's a GSR you could be in trouble.

I have a 90 LS 5 speed, you'll kill him! If it is a GSR, you may be in for a bit of a fight.

Impala's were fat. That's why. And it was a highly detuned version of the 5.7 LT1. Something like 240 HP. Some garbage like that. And that isn't an underrated factory number like the 4th gen LT1s. My motor when it was stock had 300HP at the fly, but was rated at 275

And the caprice LT1s aren't even real LT1s. They're 265c.i.d. baby engines, loosly based off the LT1, if you were wondering.

I agree. They were heavy cars and made about an honest 265hp. Only the heads and cam separated them from the F-bod/vette LT1's. The cams were a touch smaller but the iron heads actually flowed more than the aluminum version. They ran less compression as well and therefore made about 30hp less. The baby 4.3 LT1 used the same cam, intake and heads but just had too few cubes.

I don't understand.
Can someone explain to me why they advertise 5.7's as 350hp engines if they don't put out that much? I don't get it.

In some tech thing I read that my car stock only puts out 190hp but is labeled as a 305 5.0 can someone please explaing that crap to me!?!?!?!

Who advertises 5.7's at 350hp? -im assuming you mean on stock Third gens.

And, yes your car has a maximum of 190hp, maybe a bit lower for a stock 305 TBI. I dont quite understand your exact questions.

maybe the first part u meant...5.7L engines as 350's...cuz yes...thats true...thats 350CID-cubic inches of displacement. And if your car is a 305CID engine, yes its a 5.0L.

To expand a little more, an engines size does not mean it produces that same numerical value in power. It is mearly its displacement. Over the last 50 years 350's have ranged from 120hp to 400hp in stock trim. They all have one thing in common though. They can all be built-up to make more power.

The same thing goes for the 305 and every other engine produced by automotive manufacturers.

hmmm
Okay I understand know, 350 is just the displacement. Now as soon as I figure out what displacement is I might really understand.

But if my car only has 190hp how can a beat a car that produces 265(Such as the Impala)

The displacement of your motor is the amount of volume that the pistons move through in your engine block. It is the amount ot static air that is displaced (moved/pumped) through the motor. Your 190hp could beat cars that have more power assuming certian conditions are met. Your car would have to be lighter which would give you the better hp to weight ratio. Also, your car would have to have a flatter power band and have more area under the power curve.

not if you can drive. if its a non-GSR Integra, your low 15 sec car will beat it

my 93' Vette was rated at 300hp/335ftlbs, but actually dynoed 315hp/360ftlbs (at the flywheel). with only a K&N filter and the mufflers cut off it trapped 107.63mph... this was a fully loaded 40th anniversary model to boot! looks like GM was underrating motors long before the LS1
