Thirdgen TA goes down
finally found a thirdgen around me to run. i have seen a few around but nothing special nor ones in a position to run against
was out cruising and i see this TA run by me so i catch up after a bit and get near him and he takes off. i am like WTF so i again finally catch up and start messing with him. sounded mostly stock.. real quiet exhaust but looked like it had some rims on it, possible TT II's. kinda clean thirdgen but hard to tell at night, definately a 5 speed, so it had to be some 305...
got beside him and heard him hit it, so i punched it and immediately start pulling. it was about a 60-65mph roll, he was moving pretty good and i hate roll races at that speed. but i pulled him a few times up and down the road.
got caught up at a red light but the one i didnt want to run on. not a good area, kinda populated... well he revved and took off, and i could have really smoked him but oh well.... saving it for another day. i never get any good dig runs...

You should like to go from a roll at that speed with those gears. Looks like you have a really nice setup otherwise. But lose the flowmaster, they are junk(no offense). I made the same mistake on my car. Flowmasters are chambered mufflers wich seriously restrict exhaust flow. Swap that for one 3 inch dynomax bullet with one tail and I gaurantee when you hit the gas you will smile, no comparison at all. The bullet is straight through and sounds 10x's better!

flowmaster aint junk, but i agree its not the best.... it sounds really great tho, and is pretty loud once heated up. i do plan on a custom GMMG like setup with dynomax bullets, but thats later once all the other stuff is done.
2.77 gears are no fun, the car moves well with them but is beggin for more gear.

Your right! Gears will do you alot of good! You really have a good setup and I think gears are just what the doctor ordered. I recommend richmond. There seems to be problems with our 10 bolt rear ends. Some are 7.5 and some are 7.5/8. I had a set of 7.5 3:73's and had to replace them because they didn't setup correctly. So I talked to richmand and they told me they only make our gears in 7.5/8's now because they are less problematic. Don't know if this info means anything to you but that was my experience. My mechanic has been building drag cars since the 60's and he said those 7.5's don't setup correctly, and he was right, mine were shot a little after one year.

Next time you run into him, stop him and try to talk. (He's a thirdgen owner after all. Tell him about the 'board). Find out what he's done to his car and set up a heads up race.

Sounds usual, everytime I greet a local thirdgen owner I just get smartass remarks and every RS has a 350.

You realize some people cannot do this right? That would be loud as hell, some places crack down on loud exhausts.

i agree with irocthe5.7..... sometimes you just cant go that way cuz it will be too loud. i like it but the sound doesnt fit the car... it would sound like a 12 or 11 second machine but really is still high high 13's which makes me sorta rycer.
and the flow sounds really nice once its heated up to running temperature. really deep and has a nice sound

What if you do a straight through exhaust with some straight through resonators? That's what I did with my car and it sounded just fine. No annoying rycer rattles or angry bees. Might work the same for you.

i was thinking of single 3inch pipe like my stock setup over the axle splitting off into 2 dynomax bullets. That way i can retain dual exits and it will flow better than flowmaster but not be overly loud
