I think you will beat both. The RX8 may hang from a roll though. You will murder face the focus.

You'll kill the focus.

The RX8 on the other hand is a different story. Its gonna beat you from a roll def. and if the guy is anywhere near good at driving that 6 speed (not 5 speed) you're not gonna win that either. The only chance you have is if you're friend is a really crappy driver. That little car puts out 230 plus HP(although the torque isnt too great). Thats a pretty good power to weight ratio.

Im pretty sure a 350 tpi could beat him from a stop and maybe hang with him off of a roll.

Dont feel bad if you do lose to the RX8 tho, those things are tough little cars. Just get out there and drive the hell out of it and see what you can do.

Good luck and let us know the results

RX8's aren't very fast at all. I only saw them running mid to high 15's at my altitude. On the other hand, I don' t know how fast your car is.

id give him since its open pipes 185-200hp at the crank. so the RX8 should hurt you, have fun. And kill the ford

That focus should run a high 15's at around 90MPH. The RX8 should easily be able to run a low 14's @ 95MPH. You on the other hand are capable of running a low to mid 15's most likely at around 90 also. My guess? You're definetely going to walk all over the focus. On the other hand, don't expect the RX8 to beat you by at least 2 bus lengths. You will out launch the RX8, but he'll pass you when you are in 2nd guaranteed.

Yea I figured Id kill the focus, can't wait to shut him up. I think I'll go up against the RX8 just for the fun of it. Not quite sure how well he can drive stick, so I might have a slight chance.

Even if the driver of the RX8 is a poor driver, you have a 305, not a 350. If he screws up his launch, he will pass you top end where your TPI chokes up.

Just try to make the race as short as you can. The shorter the race, the better your chances

90mph?! An SVT maybe, but certainly not a regular Zetec car.

And like said before, run from a stop with the RX-8. They make **** for torque, and need a clutch dump up around 5000rpm with lots of wheelspin to avoid bogging off the line. Anything less than a high rpm clutch dump will result in a weak launch. By the time you reach 60, he'll be gaining on you. So don't go too far into 3rd gear, and get enough in 1st to hold his top end charge off.

You'll rape the focus 6 ways from sunday. I think the only thirdgen that would have a problem with a focus (besides a sixer) is an LG4 lol.

The RX-8 is a different story. They're a tough little car. Like the last poster said, take him from a dig. You've got way better torque and he has to do some serious dumping to launch halfways decent.

Do the free mods before you run too, just for a few extra ponies. Every little bit can't hurt.

Do avoid racing the RX-8 from a roll though.

yeah with the RX-8 run the 1/8 because even if he passes you its still close. if your a manual 305 the 1/4 would be a tight race, and the lauch would have to be perfect but you should win...ie cam that sucker

I'm in Concord, but have several friends in Pinole/Richmond/El Cerrito and am out your way constantly. Check out the west coast forums for the dyno day coming up later this month!

Plenty, and in fact I'd dare to say most. If I'm on the highway and pull up next to another car and he's game, we're sure as hell not going to stop on a highway to set up a race And traffic lights are there for a reason, there is a lot of traffic to control. And although I'm not condoning street racing, running from a roll in non-congested areas is safer than running around in the city.

so who decides how far you race? if your racing on the freeway stop it, its retarded, street racing is also pretty stupid but i have been known to do it once in a while. Its no stop light to stop light run tho just me and a couplea guys and no spectators.

Racing from a stop shows who's the better driver. Racing from a roll shows who has the faster car. That's why people race from a roll. Everyone could beat me from a stop, but my car was still faster.

When its obvious who has the quicker car, or the speeds become too high. Get out from under your rock, as you're not running to see who gets to the "end" quicker. It's who can accelerate quicker. That's all.

It is retarded? No ****! I'll stop right away!
