Theoretical race question for stu
One of my coworkers has recently been telling me about some guy that he really dislikes who drives a '95 Integra SE. He keeps saying that I should race him for money but he said it would be a "good race" and that I would probably not win, especially in the higher speed range.
Anyway, supposedly this guy has hung with a stock SRT4, a Civic with a large amount of boost from nitrous, and an LS1 T/A. The coworker even claims they have a video of the Integra running with the SRT4 and keeping up, although I have not seen it personally.
The part that is confusing me is the fact that the guy supposedly only has these mods: CAI, header, exhaust and some kind of special racing clutch. No turbo. How in the hell can this car keep up with an SRT4? I can't see it happening.
So basically, I am just wanting to know what exactly these cars are capable of with and without turbos, and if any of this information seems legit. Since you had one of these cars, I figured you'd probably know more about them than anyone else on the boards. Thanks

he would have to have a full bolt on , cammed GSR or H22 swap in there, with great tune and good gears or some H23/vtec hybrid build up which is similar to the H22, to have a chance at hanging with those above mentioned cars.
i think he's bs'ing or has spray

Funny you should mention that, because according to this thread he lost to a '98 Prelude although I don't know the mods:

SE just means Special Edition, which translates into all the options that the GSR got, except the motor. So, leather, sun roof, weight, etc. He's just driving an LS, a slow one at that.
Let's see here:
Header = 3-5 whp at the MOST.
Catback = 3-5 whp at the MOST.
No type of clutch in the world makes your car faster, I love when people list them as a mod.
The LS doesn't even get the steep gears like a GSR. Bottom line, even if he HAD a GSR, with those "mods" (lol) he wouldn't be able to keep up with any of the cars he's mentioned, not even close. He would get his *** handed to him by all of those guys, and most likely you as well.
In order to keep up with those cars without boost, he'd have to have spent so much money on the motor, that he might as well have just bought a 2000 Z28 for $14,000. Plus, he'd have to have so much **** taken out of his interior that the car wouldn't even be worth driving.
That guy and his friend are tools. Good luck.

I wouldn't be worried. Poeple often times have a missconception of a cars speed. They have not raced anyone fast to tell them otherwise. They have also never driven a car faster than theirs to make than think anything else.
I sold my M6 '95 Z to a 15 year old kid who wanted to beat his friend who had some old Nissan with a few bolts-ons that he deemed fast. After a quick "ride" he said "my friends car can't do that!."

When I had my near stock '96 GSR, I gave one of the lot techs a ride, and he told me that if I really pushed the car hard, he thought it could do 13's. My car was capable of mid 16's at best. LOL. That kid was so stupid. Shifty, I've got another cool link for you.

Hmm, never personally met the guy so I can't say what he does and doesn't have. I've been told all of this information second-hand, so I can't garuntee it to be accurate.
Anywho, so basically what we're all getting at is that there is no way he'll take my car from a dig, right? I figured that would be the answer unless he has some form of boost.
Thanks for the help.

Turns out the guy was racing a brand new 900-mile SRT4 with four people in the back. Guess the other dude didn't want to ruin his investment so soon and just gave the win to the Integra.
He also got owned by about four car lengths racing a stock LS1 Trans Am. Here's the vid if you want to watch it:

four cars that's all? guess the guy in the T/A had a block of wood under his pedal?
That four car lengths looked like multiple bus lengths+ and it was downright ugly! The comment at the end was classic - "you hurt the poor kid's feelings." LMFAO!!!
That kid had no right messing with an LS1.

bottom 12's? where?? that must be below sea level or something lol! let him try running low 12's @ 5800ft elevation with less than $10k in a typical honda/acura motor...200 or so ft lbs of torque won't cut it up here.
Want me to get a list of people who've done just that for you? Does the $10,000 include the cost of the car or not? I can provide both. Also, does it have to be a Honda? I can get names of people who've done it in much worse cars, i.e. non-SRT-4 Neons.
Don't forget where my car was and the amount of money I put into my mods. *I never even touched my motor.*
