3.4 Firebird vs 1999 3.8 stang

just ran a 99+ 3.8 stang, it was a stick and had a catback,im running a 1986 3.4 M5 Firebird, K&N, dynomax cat/sidepipe, No ac---AIR----egr--spare--charcol canister, Ported and Polished stock heads/intake and had my EST wire disconnected (runs bad while plugged in, possible short?) any way,i thought i was gonna get killed when i saw duel exhaust, but then saw no GT emblem,i had never raced with my new motor i didnt know how it was gonna go, and i ended up ahead by about 1.5 cars. then the next race he took off easy so i went into 2nd at about 2500rpm, then he floors it at about 15mph and so do i...still in 2nd gear, still pulled on him. times we raced no powershifting or high rpm launches on my part, and then he wouldnt run me again for the next 10 minutes on the highway. Im thinking it was an auto, it was blue and had some nice black wheels, Im happy with the outcome considering my current problems

Dunno but 3.4s aren't exactly rocket sleds. We put a 3.4 in my best friend's old 92 RS when he blew his 3.1... fun times.. slow, but fun..

i have never ran it at the track or dyno'd it, i think its pretty good beating a car that is factory rated with 30+ hp and 20+ft lbs.+ exhaust while my timing is stuck at 14* BTDC. im hoping for some headers soon and homemade intake ducting to replace the crappy airbox/flex tube with a piece of 3" pipe and rubber boot to the TB. then possibly a 75 wet shot...then maybe onto a LT1 for my plans of a 700hp+ turbo street car after i get out of UTI
