last night my cousin came in from where he lives which is rare and he has a 1983 crossfire 305 which I swapped for a 350 caprice engine. it still has the crossfire sitting on top with the crossfire heads on it all cleaned and machined. it has a flowmaster catback and the flapping fiberglass hood. his car also has an auto in it.

my car is a 1989 firebird with a 305 tbi stock. dynomax 2.5" catback and gutted cat. i have fuzion zris rubbers all around brand new. i flipped the air cleaner lid upside down just for the hell of it i know no gains.

so we lined up at a light on a street with NO CARS all closed businesses and no people walking around. i honk the horn the times as we both brake torque are cars to 1000rpms we launch on the 3rd beep my tires stick i dunno how they never do his do a little spinning i pull ahead by 2 cars then still pull after that to 3 cars then we stay at that point for the rest to 85 when we both shut down.

second race same thing we launched and i kept going as a few cars were coming on the opposite side so he slowed and i kept going knowing no cops but wasnt going full out.

third time we do it all the same and he spins again and once again i hook and again pull 3 cars and keep that distance to 85.

all in all i think his car needs a tune since hes running stock 305 tune but it was a proud win for me knowing that his car feels like it has more power but it was fun and safe.

It sounds like your friends car is more powerful but it just can't hook up. Its easy for your car to get going because its stock and its made to handle your power. Just tell you buddy to get some better tires that should even it up on the kick but after that I don't know but I do know that crossfire inj sucks!

The only people that say that are the idiots that dont know how to work on them or set them up. Ive had 4 CFI cars, both stock and modded. Id take a CFI car any day over a TPI or TBI. They have more potential than you think...you just have to know what youre doing.

well he has brand new 245/50/16 inch cooper zeons i think? pretty sure but i know for sure its v pattern tread like mine are and he just got them but i dont know much about that tire. i think maybe we shouldve switched cars to see the outcome then but i didnt want to drive his since his interior was all out of the car(new floor pans). when its put all back together ill have to run them again and well switch drivers for sure i wanna see what my 350 i put in can do to my wee lil 305

And I'd take a carb any day over CFI/TBI/TPI.

cooper zeons are a VERY hard compound rubber tire made to HANDLE not hook so no wonder he isnt keeping up with you outta the hole. Tell him to get rid of those unless he wants to run it around a track.
