LO3 vs. H22 Accord

Well I ran into a 2 door 90's accord with an H22 swap and I was suprised with the results. We did a couple of runs from an average of 50-60 mph and I was ALWAYS in 4th gear. He made his runs from 3rd gear every time. When we went, I would pull about a 1/2 a car and then he would very slowly pass by me, nothing to extreme. I was scared to put it into third because of revs but thinking back now I think if I dropped to third, I would have killed him. Do you guys think that a roll from 3rd would have been better than 4th? Either way I think only losing a car to a h22 gutted accord is straight.

H22's are pretty powerful little engines. Try running your car at 50 in 3rd and see what it RPM you're at, it seems like if he's slowly passing you the downshift won't help alot. I garuntee that little 4 cylinder is going to be able to pull more RPM than you. Ask him to run from a dig, you should own him from there. Good luck and good run.

What rear-end is in your car? I would defintely be going down into third, my 305 doesn't really wake up until 3500rpm, and pulls right up to 5500 where I pull it to.

I have 3.08s, uhh well i cant launch my car so with a 60 foot of 2.4 i ran a 16.00 before roller rockers and clutch. I went 86mph I think, but thats like low 15 second mph I think. I do better on the street because i dont spin as much, i have bf goodrich radial t/a tires and they suck. This is all on stock tune and with an exhaust leak lol.

Third at 50mph should be real good for you, I'd say you'd be good there. Must be a pretty bad track to pull a 2.4, what is your launch technique? You should be able to ruin this guy from a dig...

Have you tried running them down to about 20psi and doing a nice SHORT burnout before you launch? If that doesn't do it you might want to try putting in some V6 springs and decently loose shocks and struts.
