you should probably take him, just make sure you get a good launch cause your torque should be giving you a early lead.

he is going to lose.
He would lose if you were bone stock as well.

The turbo AWD models weren't all that much faster than a good running 89-92 GTA.
320hp, but weighing in at 3890lbs.

They should just add a OW to the SL, and call it a 3000GT SLOW, because sl's are slow especailly being an automatic now if it was VR4 thats a differnt story

I just recently had a run in with a GT3000, turbo'd. I could holeshot him easily, he would begin to pull back around 50, we did take things too much faster, he could never win from a stop, I think with more cubes than me, against a non-turbo'd car, it'll be a masacure!

SL models are about 160hp.They are a joke. They weigh 3700+ and a stock v6 3.8 camaro would smoke it.

First of all, PontiacSpeed should have no trouble against the SL, especially being that he has the L98.
Mitsubishi 3000GT SL's are not "dogs" by any means. I had a manual 95 3000GT SL and it had 222-horsepower 190 torque stock. The main problem with the car was that it was FWD. I had a CAI and exhaust and it pulled fairly hard. Stock they will run mid-low 15's. To the guy that thinks a 3800 camaro will "smoke" the SL? I think auto-auto, manual-manual would be a fair race between the two, but smoke? Come on.
How many of our cars were rated at the same quarter mile times stock? As far as the 3000GT VR4, gimme a break. AWD, twin turbos, six-speed manual, 320 horsepower stock, I think the fact that it is overweight is a moot point. The potential of a twin turboed AWD vehicle is limitless. Turn up the boost (within reason) and you will be dealing with even more power.
I've owned four camaro z28's and they are a blast to drive and I feel the same way about the imports that I've owned.

3000GT=POS

I've driven my fair share and they're not impressive. Great, twin turbos and 320 HP...it's a bloated pig.

SL IS a dog. A heavy bloated pig with LESS power

320hp and only running high 13's, sign me up

Well if it makes you feel any better you have your info wrong. The SL came in two motors. Base model is 161hp, 185ftlbtorque 3.0 SOHC. Look it up I am not lying. The model you are talking about is the DOHC version 222hp 3.0 but even if the guy has this motor it will still be a beat down pretty hard by PONTIACSPEED with his bolt ons.Mid-low 15s is not going to cut it aganist a mid-low 14s L98.The 3.8 camaro will smoke the 3.0 base model 161hp 3000GT this is what I was refering to.My buddy had a 161hp GT and it was a dog. My moms olds 3.1 cutlass would tear it up back in high school.161hp is nothing for a 3700+lb car.Plus it had no torque.

You will win, race him from a stop, You will have few car lengths on him by 40-50 mph, if you hook up

you'll win. As long as it's not the SOHC it'll be quick but it won't beat you.

I'm not saying they are fast or superlight but they don't weigh that much.

PONTlACSpeed will have no problems whatsoever. Good luck.

My freinds fathers weighed 3840 with him in it at the track.I just called him and he said that his Vr4 weighed about 3600-3650 without him in the car.He is 6 "2 225 pounds. So thats about right and I have a freind who has a stelth turbo and his weighs almost 3900 at the track. The listed weight by the manufacture is always off.My monte carlo was supposed to be 3,200-3,350 from the factory according to factory stats but once you add all the options and things like that they are alot heavier.Mine weighed 3518 stock without me in it stock and know weighs 3280 with me in it from massive weight reduction. Most cars are given an unoptioned weight and then when you add all the accessories they add 100+lbs easy.I am not saying that it is impossible but unless a person specificly orderd a car with less options I think they all weigh 3400+ without the person from the factory but I have seen very few 3000gts that didn't have all the bells and whistles like leather, power windows, etc.Though most of my experience has been with turbo cars and the non-turbos could be 200-300lbs lighter but I think 3,400 pounds from the factory would be pretty light even for a SL with few options. That would be intersting if the turbo model added that much weight.hmm...

I know its not gonna be that light unless its without any options but the turbo models do add on a lot of weight because of the awd, 4 wheel steering, adjustable suspension, adjustable exhaust and active aerodynamics, and other stuff that add a lot of weight to the car compared to the non-turbos.
I'm not 100% sure but I don't think those options were available on the non-turbo models. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

WHAT 3.8 came in a Camaro?!?!?
SL models are about 160hp.They are a joke. They weigh 3700+ and a stock v6 3.8 camaro would smoke it.
Not to mention, I'll have to dissagree on the V6 thirgen beating the Mitsu.
V6 (3.1) thirgens weigh around 3500 w/140hp!

Again what Camaro came with a 3.8?
I think you should take him, though.

The 3.8 I am refering to is the 4th gen camaro,200hp v6 96-02 and the 3.1 I am talking about was an olds cutlass 98 3.1 liter 160hp car.Yes the cutlass would pull it.
