import vs camaro

theres a guy on a local forums <young kid> talking alot of smack about his car being "great" he started out harassing my cousin for a race. my cousins pushing a 98 or 99 vw passat 5 speed, its a 4 cylinder with factory turbo turned up to 19 pounds with a k3sport "wth ever that means" anyhow then he moved onto talking smack to me, ofcourse he has no idea what i own and claims he doesnt care hell suck it up. im about to pull the car out of the garage and put tags on it since the swap. so here it is.

hes in a mid 90's hatch manual transmission with a k20 out of a acura gsx installed says hes on all motor. but i wouldnt be suprised if its a turbo in there. however i dont think the car is modded past stock basically,
im running a stock lt1 in a 90 with hedman shortys with a dynomax catback, and a 4l60e with a performance tune from ion at madz28.com. the run wont happen until this summer, atm i have 273s as a rear. by then i hope to have 342 posi.. if we go to the strip itll be a 1/8 mile.
whats your prediction guys.

He has no chance unless he is boosted. Sounds like another case where a young kids gets a car that is slightly faster than mom's sedan thus giving him a false impression that it is fast.

ok did some looking around and i found this post quoted from him

"I would post last nights kill but most of you seen it and a couple got to be in it. Ill post some more kills for you tho,

01 Ls1 camaro exhaust
01 mustang gt I/h/e
04 srt-4 18 psi
94 hatch z6 13 psi
94 hatch z6 150 shot
94 hatch h22
97 couple h22

And many others not worth posting, all of these races are from roll starts 15-20 mph and my car is not a roll start car.
The car has went as fast as an 8.37 at 87 in the 1/8th with a 12.9 at 108 quarter. It usually runs 8.6s to 8.5 at 84 at natural bridge, on slicks the car probably could pull a 1.6 1.7 60 foot. and I think it could run in the 8.0 to 7.9 range. This is all with 50 dollar ebay coilovers 200k mile struts and worn out bushings in the back. Ill tell my mods also, no confusion, I/h/e 2.5 inch with a flowmaster. Aem fuel rail, regulator and pulleys. Hondata k-pro tuned to 200 whp and 150 torque. Tranny consists of 5.06 final drive, Quaife lsd, lightweight flywheel and stage 2 exedy clutch. Ive never ran the car on the nittos so I dont know what it runs on those tires. My times were pulled on 225/50/15 bfg drag radials."

i guess if worst comes to worst i could also run a shot of nos

His mods are vague and are only suportive in nature. Actual engine specs would be needed. 200whp doesn't seem enough to run 12's unless the car weighed 2k lbs or less.

How fast do you think a K20 swap into a hatch civic would be? How about a H22 with a chip in the same car? Guy around here has them and everyone talks about how his H22 is a high 12 second car. True or False?

Its possible...
CRX is in a differnt league though
Those cars weigh 1100lbs if you do some weight reductions to them....

You should win, race him and find out....if you lose ohh well..he has triple the money you do in your car...

If you run from a dig you might get him, from a run he should pull on you a little.A civic hatch with a k20 swap is nothing to sleep on most v-8 guys dont know a thing about them and think that they are still junk because they sound like crap but it sucks when one whips your ***

oh gosh...i didn't even realize who started the thread but then i noticed natural bridge and i then realized who it was...there are a lot of hatches in lynchburg, tell me more about it and i may help you identify it. my best friend runs a late 90's black civic at natural bridge, his dad owns a body shop and he and i put on stuff for anybody that needs it at school, ill ask him about it. i know there is a hatch crx with a huge wing on the back - that thing has nothing, but i also know of another hatch that my buddy says runs 12's at NB, and also runs with NOPI (of course both of these losers are on wards every weekend). give me a description and im positive i can find out more...

what local forum are you talking about also?
thanks

A k20 is rated at I think about 200 hp. In a hatchback that will probably make a mid 13 second car in the 1/4(if it put together right). Just my 2 cents.

beware of the k20 swap.. i've heard that it is a potent motor when done right.. turbo'd versions in a hatch can potentially hit low 11's to high high 10's..

Re: import vs camaro

I have a buddy who put a B20 into a civic hatch, all motor, ran 13.6. I didn't believe him, so I ran him, and by the way he was keeping up I was really impressed....then he put boost to it and I wouldn't race him cuz it put him in the 11's...though even if I wanted to race him I couldn't because he blew the motor within 2 weeks lol. Anyway a K20 makes more power than a B20, so it's probably got a good chance.
