Your only hope is from a dig. He's heavy and FWD, so he should be pretty easy to holeshot - but I'm sure he's got top end on you, the new Mitsu 3.8 liters got some *****. Airstrip - from a dig isn't gonna matter, he'll have enough time to pass you. You don't, per chance, have the G92 305? If so, that changes things some, although probably not enough for a long race.

Mod your car, being 20 years old gives you the advantage of YEARS of reserach to tell you what will help it kick ***. There are tons of free mods for these cars that will help them compete with the new stuff. BTW don't give him a chance to blow bye you, go out 1000 or so feet and put a tape line or something down, have a defined start and finish.

Its from a dig, I wish I had the g92, but like you said its just a drag. we are gonna tape the start and finish for that very reason
I wish I had the time and money to mod my car, being a student with lots of bills doesnt help either.
Thanks guys

he would take you pretty easy. they actually get a good jump, better than my 92, you can keep up for a few seconds, but then its over.

I live just south of charlotte.
I guess I will just have to ram him in the back and make him spin out, just like that one time when I was playing video games....

What airstrip are you talkin about? Do you get hassled by the cops or is it a legit place? Sounds like it might be something to check out.

Re: 87 iroc 305 vs 06 eclipse gt
Def. not a legit place, it is in a neighborhood where a bunch of people own planes. They built thier own airstrip so they could fly when they wanted. Three exits out of the place, so gotta practice getting out of there before people call the cops. Gotta make sure they don't have security guards either.
I don't know about coming to check it out, but some of us NC guys should do a meet sometime, I was thinking about going to the myrtle thing, but I don't know if I can get the time off work.

BTW, I'm willing to let it rip on the street, but its always over by second gear whether I'm ahead or behind, and only if there is ample room and visibility. So yea, I guess the pot is calling the kettle black...

It's all good, we all do stupid stuff in our cars sometimes, its just a matter of being smart about it.... (did I just contradict myself?)
we would also run at night, I don't want to risk a random plane landing on my car.

I had a mental picture of a thirdgen w/ t-tops, and just the right sized landing gear...

Re: 87 iroc 305 vs 06 eclipse gt
*Update*
I got my rear handed to me. We only did one run and I had a pretty bad launch, but still had him by about a car length or so until he flew by me before we even hit 45mph. Course, my engine was heat soaked pretty bad and I had a bad launch; he still would have beat me even if I was running right and had a good launch, it just would not have been as bad.

Re: 87 iroc 305 vs 06 eclipse gt
that made me laugh!!!! of course you can stack Horsepower. I add the HP from my blower fan to the total of my camaro.
And it sucks to get beat, but the great thing about it is the next time your buddy is out driving with his girlfriend and pulls up next to another camaro and says " Hey honey watch this I blow these slomaro's away all the time" But this time it's one like mine (and many are) thats built, his new found 1-0 record will be evened out.
