Lets say both auto, and around the same mileage. I don't follow the Mustangs, so I don't know who's faster.

Re: Mustang vs. Trans Am

Good to know, because one of my buds. Was wanting to take me up to the Bowling Green dragstrip; and it's going to be Mustang weekend. And I told not really, because I hate Mustang's, and then he started talking trash. But, now I can back it up. THANKS

If he's an auto and bone stock racing your GTA he's toast. I assume yours in good running condition?

I agree, a stock auto vs auto the fox body will lose. 5-speed fox vs auto fbody should depend on the Mustang driver. Just watch out during those Mustang weekends, there are some fast cars that attend!

Re: Mustang vs. Trans Am

yeah man...auto Foxbody with a 5.0 is a real slouch between shifts. I thought my 700R4 was bad untill I took my buddies 1990 LX 5.0 Auto out. Mind you if he is lying about the bone stock thing and did some form of a buildup on that auto then it might be a different story.

Re: Mustang vs. Trans Am

I love mustangs, it gives me something to beat up on.

Seriously, mustangs have always been nice. Was thinking I might try to reproduce the "Nightmare" project mustang they did on TV a while back. Man that car was S H A R P.

Keep in mind if it weren't for mustangs and ford we probably wouldn't have camaros and firebirds. My hat is off to ford and the mudstain er I meant mustang. I still like to beat up on em though.

As for the race, make darn sure you care is squared away and tuned well before you go. Luck favors the well prepared.

Good Luck!!!

(OK 25th, I stole your line above but it was funny the first time you wrote it so what the hey)

Yea, its in excellent running condition, because I just got new a motor put in June w/ a little better cam. I don't know what cam he put in it, but it is real lopey at idle; and takes off real responsive. The only problem I have is when I try to start it when its cold. It will crank for 2-3 seconds, then start. Then, I will have to give it throttle to keep it alive, if I don't it will die. Any ideas. Yea, that Mustang meet is this weekend, I'm thinking about going. Mainly, because I love cars, but unfortuanately not Mustangs. My family has only ever had GM's, plus they are my initials.

What's the difference between a Ford and a golf ball?? You can drive the golf ball 200 yards.

I think it depends on the car AND the driver. When I first brought my '89 IROC(L98 700R4) home, my friend's sister wanted to race me when I took it to the track really bad. She had a '90 fox mustang 5-spd, and after 3 different people attempted to beat my time, none of them did. I went 14.79 and the fastest her car went was 15.03, with several good drivers trying to beat the time. In the end, I just don't think her car was that fast...

It works the same in all directions... we got our 91 LX bone stock to go 14.4, the same night a catback only L98 was going 14.8s, and our friends auto LT1 14.3s. Some are faster, some are slower, and a driver can definately make or break a pass (ask the 15.0 Vette at the track today).

If the mustang guy had a clue what he was doing you would get smoked by the mustang. But it sounds like he doesnt so go stomp that ford.
