Well, i herd of a little meet on another site and decided to take a look, of course i wanted to get some runs in and what do you know....
Drug my buddys LT1 vetter badly
Drug 3....what are the chances in one night....WS6 LS1s with a few bolt ons, as usual, 3rd gear tears them a new rear.
The best of the night was a new EVO, from a 40 roll punch he took me on the go, i thought for a second this might be my demise, but low and behold 3rd gear does its thing and i pull the guy by a half car. I am sure 4th gear would have rung him out more. I stopped at a light with him and told the Asian dud his car ran well and asked his mods, he said he has intake, exhaust, cams and tune. I was like damn, no wonder. I would bet the world i couldnt catch the guy from a dig....for now. So, i thing with a hear, my T56 and suspension i will give the guy a try from a stop one day.
Well, +5 for the 89 tonight and it was a blast, till next time...

Hi,
Good job.
I wasn't sure what car you raced him in and what kind of a setup you had in there?

a t-5 behind a 383? Hows that holding up? I see you mention upgrading to a t-56...
Anyways sweet run. Sounds like youve got a pretty quick car there.
An Lt1 vette? He shouldnt be losing to you in a roll!
Sweet.

Yea, it is amazing how much abuse the T5 is taking, i am going to replace it with the T56 asap, i think it is worth 500 with the bell housing and clutch set. This thing is just crazy on how it handles power, i woulda bet my life it would brake when i thought about installing a 383.
All in all this thing runs hard for a temporary motor, i threw it together so i could drive it till my nasty 408 is ready!!

I would think a 383 would dog out an lt1 even somewhat modded.Ive driven them and they`re not that fast.My car hs as much power a a stock one.He should destroy it unless its heavily modded. An Lt1 vette? He shouldnt be losing to you in a roll!
Yea, i hope he is kidding, i think he is. The 300 hp that it might be stock had no chance. I destroyed him.

It's sticky tires and repeated clutch dumps that will do these trannys in.

i saw your "calculated" time slip, and if youre only trapping 99mph or so then your car does NOT have as much power as an LT1 Vette. i had a bone stock 93' 6spd and i got it to run 107.63mph in the quarter. it dynoed 266rwhp/306rwtq which would be about 313hp/360tq at the motor. much like all GMs V8s, the LT1 apparently was also underratedOriginally Posted by Shadygrady

Nope, i am scared to break the T5 and i want to get a 3.73 in it before i go for the 1/4 passes.

Just because someone has a "383" doesn't mean jack crap. I've seen 383's unable to get out of the 13's.Originally Posted by Shadygrady

Now I'm not saying this is the case with the original poster but just because you hear 383 don't go assuming it's some super bad *** car.
Verry true, some folks just throw parts together and they hurt performance...well sometimes straight kill performance all together. Or you can have a torque monster and still have no upper power band due to undersized cam/heads/carb packages.
I personally think my car would go 13s till i get a gear, on the street i can spin and hook a bit. At the track i had a 357 with thge same cam,. shorty headers, performer intake and smaller heads with less port work, i could only best a 9.0 in the 1/8 with a 2.2 60'. That was on slicks or radials, now...i think this motor will destroy my T5, i would rather keep it in one piece to sell it rather than bust the thing to bits.

Since he said he beat 3 ws6 ls1`s I figured he had a pretty decent set-up.Quote:

My bad.I didnt mean to upset anyone with an lt1 vette.Thats an impressive trap speed. What was the et?Do you remember any of its 1/8ths?I`ve never been to a 1/4 mile track but I think it would be better than that"calculation".One site actually"calculated"it as high as 103 mph.I chose the slowest and worst time since it is"calculated".I guess I should have been refering to the f-bodys which were rated at about 275 hpI believe.I have out run them in stock form and with mild bolt ons.I feel confident my engine makes about that much power if not a little more.As I`m sure you know there is a little more to an et or trap than power.Traction, which I dont have,It was about 95* that day and(air) humid as hell.Very little exp. at the track(2nd time).2.73 diff.159,000 miles on transmission(700r4),stock stall.not to mention the drivetrain loss of an auto compared to a manual.I havent dynord yet but plan to this year.I dont expect it to be 313hp,but within about 15 to 20hp or so.just more tourqe.i saw your "calculated" time slip, and if youre only trapping 99mph or so then your car does NOT have as much power as an LT1 Vette. i had a bone stock 93' 6spd and i got it to run 107.63mph in the quarter. it dynoed 266rwhp/306rwtq which would be about 313hp/360tq at the motor. much like all GMs V8s, the LT1 apparently was also underrated
My setup is decent for the price. I might have 2000$ in the car from bumper to bumper, including the price of the car. Lets see you make those LS1s run as good as my RS for 2k, with the price of the car...J/K, maybe in 15 years. I am really happy with it as it is a temporary motor for the 408 to be built.

not to worry, im not upset, i just dont like when people make assumptions that since they beat ONE example of a certain car that they can take them all. while my 107mph run was not the norm with that type of car, it can happen when the right driver is behind the wheelOriginally Posted by Shadygrady

ive always thought of the whole E/T vs mph thing like this: trap speed indicates how much power the car is making, while E/T is how well that power gets put to the ground
My buddys vette i drug went to the track last weekend and got 3 13.5x back to back on drag radials. Not bad i guess. I dont know the MPH. I really cannot wait to see what kind of time slips i produce. I murdered his vette.
