'89 L98 GTA vs. Mazdaspeed Protege
My buddy just bought a 2003 Mazdaspeed Protege. It hasn't come up yet, but I'm sure we'll end up running against each other eventually. They have a 2.0 litre turbo four with 170 hp and 160 ft lbs of torque. It has a 5 speed as well. I've ridden in it before and it's pretty quick in the top end. Low end seems pretty gutless though. His car is completely stock as of now. My car's in good tune, with decent street tires, and the only things done to it are an SLP CAI and an SLP catback. From a dig I'm sure I'd have him, from a roll it may be a little closer, but I'm not sure. What do you guys think?

Yeah man you should really have more confidence in your L98 lol because I would even feel good racing it in my LB9.

Keep in mind that my car weighs about a 1000 lbs more. Like I said, I'm sure I won't have any problems, just wanted to see what other people thought. And the general consensus seems to be in my favor lol.

Low 15 second cars, into the 14s with some mods. If you run him stock you should walk him, if he throws a few mods into it should be a good race.

Re: '89 L98 GTA vs. Mazdaspeed Protege
is it really a waste? would any of us not smile? i mean really, why else plow these gas guzzling tanks around anymore other then to spank the unsuspecting? i WISH protoge's would try, i couldn't even get a friggin race this summer. i do however think a few tried and i was already gone cause i was just driving a bit hot and never thought they were trying. there was this kid in a civic but well, we;ve all told/heard that story before.
as far as mazda being worthless, well my personal jesus car is the FD3S, but hey, worldwide fame is nothing.
