my friends swears he could beat me in a race in his I4 06 Cobalt LT L61 against my V8 89 Camaro RS TBI. I honestly dont think he could, other than his acceleration might be better. But before we go out and illegaly do this, I want to show him what the community thinks.

Well if your car is running good with a new tune up and stuff this yes you will win. He has 145 hp and 155 of torque. Now if i was you race from a dead stop and beat his little peice of s.h.i.t i hate them cars! Everyone that has one thinks their cool and very fast! I hate them they are SLOW!

lt might be slow but dont talk trash to the supercharged ss.....budy has one it runs high 13s with his exhaust and a cpl other lil cheap bolt ons...plus hes got nitrous he hasnt used yet though....

Ya thats the SS though its making a little over 200 hp. He shouldnt have a big deal with an LT version.

What transmissions they have will play a determining factor.

So fill us in

(but yeah alot of Cobalt owners are way to hopefull about the cars acceleration)

 

Rob Rob Rob ur a funny one. Everybody I am the Owner of this 06 Cobalt LT. We both have Automatic Transimitions. I NEVER said i would beat him i said i would beat him at the start lol. If its a short race yeah ill beat him long race idk he will prolly beat me but i can accelerate through the gears faster than he can. We both top out at around the same speed i think soo yeah

 

no you will not accelerate faster than him. you drive a cobalt. it is slower than our 305 TBI's any day.

Ok just woundering how do you think you will beat him off the line? He has got more hp than you and a heck off alot more torque 100 more in fact!

Yes i have also seen that as well. I know that i have a 305 but it is slow lol. i mean off the start its better than some of my freinds cars but it sucks *****! But it will beat a LT colbot of the line and in 1/4 mile!

there is one nice thing about those low HP engines. I4, 305TBI, etc etc etc i mean. That is that they don't have to worry about traction off the line

 

Just for reference--my 07 automatic 2.4L VS my old 88 TBI IROC--both autos--both bone stock

17.0 IROC VS 16.9 for the 2.4L Cobalt.

My Specs for the race are 2006 Cobalt LT 2.2L 148HP last service was 9/23/07. 15,000 miles on the car half a tank of gas. Oil life says 71% but idk how true that is we are racing tomarrow ( monday )

I am going to say the Cobalt will win. We had an 05 Cobalt LT 4dr auto and it gave my Formula a run for it's money.
We now have an 07 Cobalt SS 4dr Auto (non supercharged) and it's pretty quick.

 

I'm pretty sure that hes going to have no problem at the start! I'd say the camaro will beat it to 60 at least.

 

I never said this wouldn't be a very close race, but i do think that the RS won (because the race should be over now)

you will find out, but lets say i was ahead of him at the begining and stayed ahead of him the whole time he kept up till i hit second gear then i was pulling away from him id say u can fit the small yaris in between the cars

Wow i just raced the kid down the street like 20 mins ago and i beat him. he has a LT with 5 speed. We raced from dead stop to like 70. I mean i got a little done to my car but not a hole lot. So is your RS in good running shape? Dose it have a hole lot of miles or something idk how your lost.

umm the only thing i can think of why u beat him is cuz the 5 speed manual cant change gears as fast as the auto can the auto has a like less that 1 second gear switch

 

I'v known the kid for a long time and hes had the car for 2 years and i would say he would be decent at swithcing gears he even said he tryed to keep up. I got him by like 2 full size suv's. But i guess the work i did do helped me some.

 

hmm idk i guess soo maybe my car has had somtin done to itfrom the previous owner that i dont know about. But all i know is that i beat him my a small car legnth soo ya im workin on the video now it will be very bad quality cuz of the camera we had to use my phone
