Do I stand a chance?

I am going to be racing an Integra Type R. I have my 350 tpi with edelbrock base and runners, ported plenum, spohn subframes, torque arm, panhard rod, lower control arms, and 3 inch cat back. I was trying to get Dyno Don headers and y pipe before this race but he never got back to me. Should I hold off? Integra has intake manifold, throttle body, cam gears, full header back exhaust, and no interior except for dash and driver's seat. My car is auto with built 700r4 with corvette servo and transgo shift kit. Integra is manual with an "upgraded clutch" but I don't know which brand. Rear gear in my car is a 3.23 posi so I should be able to get him from the line. Race is for 1/2 mile, not the quarter. What should I do?

Re: Do I stand a chance?

Forgot to mention I have some crappy AFR aluminum heads and a junky cam that spec

advertised duration 287/287
duration @.050 226/226
lift .520/.520
seperation 112

I did feel a difference after the heads and cam but that was before intake components but after the exhaust.

Re: Do I stand a chance?

Maybe I'm wrong, but that combo should get you into the low 13s. Or did you say you are running STOCK exhaust manifolds and y pipe? If so, that's absolutely murdering your setup.

Re: Do I stand a chance?

Yes, stock manifolds and y pipe with no cats. I can't get ahold of dyno don so I may go elsewhere.

Why not just get a set of shorty headers and y pipe? Like the Hooker 2055s?

Re: Do I stand a chance?

I'm pretty sure they make a system specific for your car. You can call up Hooker and ask them. I'm not really sure what the exact part number is. Sorry.

I didnt think there was such a thing on earth.

Anyways, beyond the point that i personally would trust nothing BUT AFR's, your exhaust is slaughtering you. As it is, I don't know who would win, but with headers and a Y-pipe u should butcher him up pretty good.

I bet it will go faster than that. I'm not real sure, but I swear stock ones run that. I was thinking he'll be mid 13s. But I'm not sure.

Granted it's a 1/2 mile race though.

Good luck. Run him anyways, before and after your exhaust.

Where to go for the magnaflow y pipe, can't see it on Summit or maybe I'm dumb.

I would get the Hooker 2055 shorty headers. They come with the y pipe and will drop right in with no modifications. They are the best shorty header on the market (I'm sure many here will attest to this). Since you have no cats, you will have a y pipe that hooks directly up to your catback system.

Re: Do I stand a chance?

You have more mods than I can dream of and I'm doing 13.5's, there's now way you should lose this race, there's also no way you should only be in the mid 13's. BTW who races half mile? Do a 1/4 mile race unless you live in Arizona or some un holy flat lands where you can see forever.

You should take him provided you can drive. I'm still scratching my head about something. Why would someone rip out the entire interior on a basically stock Integra?

Re: Do I stand a chance?

The integras were never that fast stock - the newer version, the RSX is barely a high 14 second car stock and it is darn near impossible to get into the 13's with just bolt ons even with a pro driver. Hard to get blood from a stone (2.0L).

It's my understanding he needs headers and a y pipe and an intermediate pipe to get him to the catback.

Re: Do I stand a chance?

yeah, i have to ask what's up with the 1/2 mile race? I sure hope this isn't on the street since that'd put you well beyond 100mph by the end.

Re: Do I stand a chance?

i personally would never do a run that long, maybe a 1/4 at most (i'm a stoplight to stoplight kid) lol its where my cars strongest. i would be afraid of getting caught, sure i have a radar detector but once it goes off your going too fast to slow down anyways....

Re: Do I stand a chance?

The reason for the half mile is cause that is what the kid wanted, something about racing where he makes the most power. I don't know. I looked on magnaflows website but there isn't that much info. I can't order it from jegs or summit. This sucks. Matt (Integra Kid) put off the race for another week. The worst part is that I have to work with this moron. I wish Dyno Don would answer his PM's. I will look further into the y pipe.

Re: Do I stand a chance?

A word of advice; don't blindly participate in a dangerious activity suggested by someone you consider to be a moron. If he wants to race you, then take it to a legitimate track and run a 1/4 or 1/8 mile with him under safe conditions. In this scenario, you get to race several other cars, find out what times you can run with your car, work on your launching technique, keep your license, live to tell about it, AND not be convicted of vehicular manslaughter after losing control at 120 mph! Pretty good deal, isn't it?

It's my understanding that you have no cats? Do you want cats? If you don't have them and don't want them, all you need is a good header and catback setup. The 2055's will be good for your setup.

Re: Do I stand a chance?

There is a pipe that runs through my cats that is 2.5 inch diameter. I need to keep them for inspection reasons. Cops around here are looking to bust people. They go to local car shows and try to bust people there! I think it is wrong but until I put antique plates on my car, what can I do? I've looked into the 2055's but for about the same price, I could go with Dyno Don's system. I wish he would answer his messages, if I don't hear something soon, I will order 2055's and go with a single cat look.

Re: Do I stand a chance?

You both work, your car should MURDER his, make a personal wager for 50 bucks, 100 bucks, whatever you can stand to lose and go to the closest track where you'll have legit races. He'll be WAY out of real power by the 1/2 mile trust me this kid doesn't know what's up. It takes alot to get a car to pull down a 1/4 mile track, it's farther than most people realize, it's all the farther you'll ever need to race on the street.
