My boss who i work with just bought a older WRX. Its bones stock less some body kit add-ons. He talks smack about his " AWD Turbo " and hates all American cars. I told him that id race him in the " Fire Chicken " lol and he said be prepaired to get you butt handed to you. I have ridden with him once and he cant drive a stick worth a beans, It sad.

My Formula has some decent mods... Lower intake manifold, runners, 52mm tb, cat back flowmaster exhaust, msd 6al w/dissy and coil, 3:42 gear Stock course, Shift kit.

So he just wants to do a strait line have at it. Granted he has the top end speed but where going to do 1/4mile.

Thoughts on race - outcome.

 

IF he cant launch you got this but if some how he can he might rape you thems is pretty fast cars if he launch wrong hes gonna break something then youll really beat him lol

 

AWD can launch hard. If it is somewhat stock and just a WRX, not an STI i give this one to you. try a 25mph roll to avoid you screwing up your launch.

 

Yea as long as its not an sti i would get him, will be close though, his AWD makes up for alot. THen again you say he cannot drive a stick. The STi's however with a good driver stock can be decent 13 sec cars.

 

Yeah the car is bone stock, no aftermarket upgrades what so ever. He doesnt even know the first thing in modifing a turbo car, one of those kids who is like ill just throw a bunch of parts on and ill have the fastest car in the world.

Im thinking of putting on some heads prior to the " race " in the spring so i figure that will def give me an advantage. What heads to get got me, but im going to get some more pony outta the good ol bird. Headers are on the list too.

Ps i can bs a little when i tell him what ive done. !

one last thing, last time a read i know there all different but arent WRX only a low 14 sec car and the tpi350's are high 14's or so ive read.?

I don't think that is the STI model. They can run mid to high 13's with a good driver

 

His car is not an STI, just a plain 224hp turbo WRX.

 

you are gonna have your work cut out for you there. if he can launch the car (by the sounds of it he can't) it will be all over. he has decent top speed but that car will fall on its face after 60. i just got rid of my wrx for an 84 z28.

 

I raced our old 04 WRX Vs a guy who said he was driving a 305 (worked up) Camaro.

That WRX was an automatic, and I brake boosted.

You on the other hand have a 350 so I'm not sure how it would go.

 

i think my lb9 bird is faster then that maro.....he proli had 2.73s in that

he was on your tail...untill he gave up

 

For the WRX to launch hard he will have to tach it to 4-6 grand. If he does it WILL launch. Most people wont do that.

 

just make sure you tree the hell out of him off the line and no rolling starts. i think you will take the win.
