88 LO3 vs 95 LT1, I did better than I thought.
Well I raced a friend of mine the other day just for giggles. He just recently picked up a 95 LT1 camaro and we were curious to see how I would match up. From what I know all that's really done to his car is exhaust and he's pulled a little weight out of it.
We line up on a clear straight road and give it a go. Well the first run pretty much ended in 2 seconds due to the fact I couldn't hook for anything, I was just sitting there roasting the tires all the way through second gear ( i got a little over zealous, lol). So we decide that going from a 5 mph roll would be a better idea. So from the 3rd honk we're off and amazingly I got a car jump on him. I was able to hold that lead till I hit forth gear and then the advantages of the LT1's upper breathing capabilities showed itself. I think by the time we were done he got me by a 3 car lead. we were actually both surprised I did as well as I did considering the 305 and crappy tune. Makes me anxious for the converter, head and cam swap coming up. All in all it was fun and there will be much more to come.

not bad for a 305, sounds like the lt1 was missing something, I thought he would pull a bigger lead than 3 cars?

def. something wrong with lt1, prolly opti.
it will still run, but down on power.
shoulda pulled away faster and further even stock.

Nope, his car runs fine. Actually about 2 weekends ago he ran a 13.5 in the quarter In Vegas. It's a strong running car.
