ls1 vs l98 whats the outcome?

i have my 86 z28 with a l98, full bolt ons, edlebrock high flow intake manifold, msd igntion, 3.73's, 52mm bbk tb, and a 100 shot. his is an 02 camaro z28 with high flow cats, an ls6 intake manifold, and 3.73's with street tires. i think it would be a close race from a dig but do i have a chance or what?

I would say it would be really close. Almost driver to driver. Are the cars stick or auto?

If he is a bad driver you will win hands down but if he is good it will be a good race

Re: ls1 vs l98 whats the outcome?

He's prolly putting down a healthy 315-320rwhp though. Ls1's have a hell of a power band and i bet he shifts at higher rpms then you do. His manual should get him off the line pretty quick but with your mods you should be putting down a good amount of torque. Its too bad you don't have a high stall converter.

Without the spray you will get murdered. Not off the line, that will appear to be close, but he will walk you hard past that. A stock LS1 makes around 380 at the crank. Combine that with the T56 and 3.73's and you have a quick car. However, the 100 spray will make it competitive with you likely the victor.

Re: ls1 vs l98 whats the outcome?

Im willing to bet he has close to 370 rwhp. Full bolt on minus ls6 intake makes around 325rwhp (corrected) and that intake lets them breath really good. from a dig u should get him but will still be close. but any roll above 45 u are going to have to drive perfect and hope he misses shifts/shifts slow.

Re: ls1 vs l98 whats the outcome?

370rwhp on mostly bolt ons is ridiculous. that ls6 intake wont add anywhere near 45rwhp.

Re: ls1 vs l98 whats the outcome?

Theres no way he has 370 to the crank ALL ls1's have 345 STOCK and the 01-02's had the ls6 intake stock with his set up hes making 300-320 to the wheels give or take. It should be a close race if he can drive but, I think u might edge him out with that spray....

First off the 2002 models came stock with the LS6 intake. His car is making around 350-360 at the crank. If he has a cat back add ten to that. I would NOT race him from a roll if your running TPI. Your best bet is from a stop. Use the NOS or dont even bother showing up.

Most stock LS1's dyno too high for 345 to be correct. They are under rated.

slp sux,
get a old school mti, the original design, or the ls1 motorsports which was a copy (hard to find) best sealing, proven to make more hp over others
