Fox Body Mustang vs Third Gen Camaro
Are the fox body mustangs significantly lighter than the third gen camaro's? I looked online and didn't really get an answer. Ive been told that theres only a couple hundred pounds up to a thousand pound difference, which doesnt sound right, or that there isnt any difference in weight. Can anybody help clarify for me?

The fox body mustang are lighter cars, which was an advantage for the 5.0, but only by very few hundred pounds, im not sure, but i believe 200-300 pounds lighter was the difference.

yeah its gotta be just a few hundred lb differance. a thirdgen camaro w/v8 wieghs approx 3,100-3,200 lbs. a fox body is approx 3,000 lbs. hell the size of the drivers can close that gap easily. depending on whos in which car.

Re: Fox Body Mustang vs Third Gen Camaro
It will depend on the two models/options compared. GT vs. GTA, LX vs. Formula, notch versus IROC, etc. However, a good guesstimate would be a 200-300 pound difference. The stripped out M5 LX notchbacks were the lightest Foxes and I'm pretty sure the M5 Formulas/IROCs were the lightest of the V8 F-bodys. I'm not sure on the LC2 TTA weight...

With the small amounts of power these cars make stock, every pound counts!

Here's what mine weighed in, without me:
89 TTA 3350
96 WS6 3460
Fox body cars were usually 3100-3300 depending on options.

Re: Fox Body Mustang vs Third Gen Camaro
Well I have two camaros (86'Z28 & 88' Camaro V8) and a 92' Mustang GT that I just got for free. The Z28 had pdl, pw, ac, 16" wheels, auto trans, power mirrors, and rear defrost it was 3610lbs. The 88 has less options and was 3420lbs. The Mustang GT had ac, pw, pdl, power mirrors and is a auto. It weighed 3290lbs with quarter tank of gas. One of my buddies has an bone stock 90' lx Mustang and he said it weigh 3105lbs on a truck scale. What made these cars quicker in stock form was that with the GT and the 5.0 LX they came with the HO motor, most were sticks, they were lighter, hooked better, had posi rears, and just made for racing the quarter better than the third gens. They made 300+ pounds of torque which came in at a low rpm which made them pull hard out the hole. There were too many options with the third gens. You could have a Iroc with a 305 or 350 tpi a Z28 with a 305tpi, 305LG4 or a TA with a 305LG4. With the Mustang you only got the 5.0HO motor with the GT and option HO 5.0 with the other models. You raced a V8 Stang you raced the HO package, not so with the third gen that's why they got a bad rap back then.
