i was gona race my buddy at the track i have a 85 trans am 350 pritty stock cept for a few mods full magnaflow 3 inch exhuast cold air intake shift kit . i tinkhe said he has an 2002 chevy 2500 6.0 v8 4 wheel drive . any ideas how i will do against it ??

 

did they make a 1985 trans am with a 350. I was sure it was only 305's

 

if it ACTUALLY 100% is a 350 then it doesnt have a stock engine but even i would think a 305tpi with those mods should beat that pickup.

 

Yeah,those trucks are big heavy and slow.Good power but not really fast stock.They always want to race my car.Its kinda funny really.Shiny new trucks all decked out.They just weigh too much and the drivers just dont realize what 1,000 lbs or so will do to how fast it is.I say go for it just be careful.test and tune nite at track preferably.

 

yeah its a jasper reman 350 i had put in nothing real souped up pritty basic . the only mod he has on his truck now is duel flowmaster 40s from the stock exhuast . so i think i will win because of the weight advantage .

 

Knowing how the majority of thirdgens run, id have to give the nod to the truck...

PS, chevy never made a 360...


but since its a 2500 4x4...ill assume its a 6.0 liter LS motor....a few simple mods, and they run VERY well, for being big heavy pickups.

 

Amen to that, my brother had a single cab long bed with the 5 speed, basic bolt ons and that thing pulled up on my mid 15 second truck.

 

luckily enough i just talked to my buddy wit the 02 chevy said it was just stock and the flowmasters he might get done before then so i am feeling better about this race . hopefully my trans am is runnin fast that day

 

idk man my bro's 5 speed hd beat his 5 speed 305.

 

yeahh i know what your sayin im not totaly confident i will win but i am optimistic . his truck is 6.0 auto and stock , my car rebuilt 350 auto , with a few mods should be a good race . prolly gona do it in a week or 2 depending on the weather .

The truck weighs approx 3950lbs if its a reg short bed. More if it is a crew cab, long bed etc. It also has 300hp and 360ftlbs of tq. It will be a good race. Hes got a few hundred extra lbs on you but probably has you beat on torque and with 4.10 gears he might have you out of the hole. You are prob running around 30-40 hp less as well. If you have no engine mods and just bolt on basics you are running around 260hp. Jasper 350's normaly run 8.5to1 comp ratio and around 260-280hp.

If you have some weight reduction and a nice set of street tires depending on your gearing you possibly can take him out of the hole if he has his stock truck tires on and hopefully you can hold it. If you cant its over and he will have you beat no problem.

 

great response ! he does have a long bed so that thing weighs alot more than my car .I think the weight difference will be the factor cuz im sure he has alittle more hp than me . its been raining non stop where i live i hope i get a dry stretch so we can go to the track .

 

a 2500hd is alot heavier then 3900 lbs... My single cab short bed z71 weighs in at 4400+ lbs. Now take into consideration the HD has a heavier trans, transfer case, and rear axle. I'd say at the minimum it's a 5,500lb truck.
