Re: mild third gen,v.s, mild forth gen

Is the 2000 a LS1 car? If so, doesnt matter how good of a driver you are, that doesnt make the car faster. You will loose.

If he gives you a 3-4 second head start it may be close in the end. But I think hands down you will lose. my

If I were doing a motor swap and starting from scratch, I'd go LSx. I wish I would have when I built my car.

There is no set to price to them. You can swap parts around to make the motor you want. The nice thing about them is that you can get factory heads that flow very good. Better than even most aftermarket sbc heads. From most of the builds I've seen its also difficult to build one under 400 horse. Look at bluezee on this site. He's putting 420 to the wheels.

Re: mild third gen,v.s, mild forth gen

I have a mild exhaust 99 TA with auto and 2.73 gears. When the TA was stock it killed my full bolt on L98 mph wise, but my L98 out ran it in the 1/4. Thats comparing full bolt on tuned L98 car on drag tires/skinnies with 2800 stall to a bone stock 99 LS1 car with highway gears and street tires

With exhaust, headers and LS6 intake plus a tune, this car should still out run the L98 on street tires Wait til I get slicks on it, it should be a mid lower 12 second car compared to my high 12 low 13 second L98.

You have a 305 correct? Aint a chance bud, sorry

Re: mild third gen,v.s, mild forth gen

I'm still considering building a LSx in a year or two. I want to get this motor in the high 11's, then I want to build a NA 10 second motor. I'm going to start with a 6.0 litre iron block short block. From what I've read, there are people making close to 1000 horse power on stock block and crank. Then just add good rods and pistons and the short block is done. I would get the shortblock from a wrecked truck. Probably $1500 or so from a yard for the complete motor. Sell off what you dont need to offset the cost some.

Re: mild third gen,v.s, mild forth gen

Like he mentioned above, my car put down 420rwhp and 407ft/lb and it's a cam-only 6.0L LSx block. I'm using a GM intake (LS6), GM heads that are not ported, with longtube headers and a dumped y pipe. It's nothing extravagant but it sure does scoot.

There's a whole section on this website dedicated to LTx and LSx swaps. It's under the Engine Swap forum.

Re: mild third gen,v.s, mild forth gen

I hit 12.5 at 111 with my 98 ws6/m6 car. Only mods are Pacesetter Long tube headers, 3" Texas speed catted Y pipe w/ high flow cats, Hooker exhaust, and a Slp lid w/k&n filter. An ls1 in a third gen would more than likely run better times than me.

Re: mild third gen,v.s, mild forth gen

What are "mild" mods?

Anyway, the only way you could win is if you hire some guy to slash his tires right before he launches...and even then you'll still lose lol
