I am a cannibal

I was out just last night coming home from a ball game when a fellow thirdgener pulled beside me he gave me a nod at a light and you know how that goes well needless to say i spanked the guy I was quite amazed I slowed down after about a 1/2 mile and pulled into a BP station I dont know how but he must have saw my brake lights he came up to me and we began to talk he told me how he had Tbi needless to say I cracked up laughing in his face as he shook his head and i mearly informed him that he just got rocked by a 4bbl 600cfm I felt sorry for the guy. He did try to make up some bullsh!t that the problem w/ his tbi was that he had poor cam and heads i told him to go home hop on ebay and start lookin for a Holley the heart and soul... I hope he takes my advice it was such a nice car its a shame though what he had under the hood

Nothing wrong at all with the TBI. It is mainly the Heads and cam. Have you ever seen the heads? The swirl port blocks a great deal of the passage. A lot of the TBI guys are switching from the peanut camshaft to the LT1 & LT4 camshafts (I will be putting mine on shortly), and are finding themselves being able to rev all the way to 6 grand instead of a little over 4 grand. Sure it is not as precise as TPI or MPFI, but it is a good bit more than carbs and is a lot less expensive than TPI to deal with. I'd like to see who is laughing when you run into someone running a TBI 305 with vortec heads intake and an LT1 camshaft. My .02

Hey 4bolt quick silver whatever it is you have some descent mods but hey come on The Silverado. you are sportin a 3/4 ton truck wich probably has a$$ raming IFS which i must say goes well w/ tbi. That is also quite a bit of power to be sporting in a 4wheel drive or is it 4x4. Im sure if it is you are not taking it off road and if you have taken seriously off road and not through grammas front yard you have probably broken tie rods drive shafts and god knows what else if you are having that much horse in a 4x4 you are a jackass unless you are pushing 44 swampers anyways back to Third Gens I could give a **** less about gas mileage and as for the quarter time 14.8 on a darn good day

hey brodyscamaro i sincerly hope that his truck is 4 wheel drive ecspecially if he has a detroit locker (posi rear end (both back tires spin), helps when 4x4ing up hills and bodys of water). I am pretty sure this guy is sporting a transfer case (what makes it go into 4x4) now if it works or not you never know with IFS (Independent Front Suspension)and brodyscamaro i put the **** in ( ) for you b/c you obviously appear to be a dumba$$... Big454blockchevy you got it together w/ the heart and soul of performance Im sure gas mileage is a problem w/ you so i guess you need to be getting some fuel or alcohol injection on that 454 speaking of Gas mileage I know for a fact that my buddy's 88 Cheyane (3/4 ton 350 5spd ) with KN system 109K on the motor gets a rough 12mpg so stick it up your a$$

You are pretty ignorant FatZ. The more you trash talk other third genners the more you bring yourself down in other's eyes. I am not going to sit here and argue with you, as obviously it would be like talking to a wall.

Yeah, you are very ignorant to laugh in the guy's face. Wow, you beat a TBI. Congratulations. Have some class. I'm not arguing with you either, I think all I need to say is a quote I learned from cvpde37-
"Never argue with an idiot, they'll just bring you down to their level and beat you with experience."

Good kill, but you should definitly give more respect to your opponents. On the street, anything can happen and you don't know what you're going to run into. It may suck for you if you ever get spanked by a stock-looking RS with a 350 and an Accel 4bbl TBI. Just a tip.

just another punk running his mouth about something he does not understand. hey man, maybe you should sell your third gen and buy a ***** and go hang out with the rest of the punks that we don't need in our circle.you are the jerks that i like to avoid while hanging around with fellow car buffs. maybe if you shut your pie hole for once and listen to some knowledgeable people for a change, maybe you would learn something. 14.8 in the quarter, whoopie!!! when you get in the 10 second range and lose the punk attitude then come talk to me.

i hate to bring up the only EFI unit hated more that TBI, and that CFI. thats right friends cross fire injection!! anyway, in a mag i have they dropped a RV cam and ported the heads and intake of a 82 auto corvette with CFI and guess what it ran. not a b-i-t-c-h-a-s-s 14.8... it was in mid 12s. not bad considering CFI is worse than TBI. and its gotta be a pain in the a s s always having to recalibrate your holley after every race... oh wait! 14.8, lol thats not fast enough to throw it off. oh well my TA does a 16, but at least i tell people its slow. i dont say, "well i have a holley on my otherwise stock 305... eat that." i have a carb to, but mines computer controlled. anone wana take shot at that? lol hell CFI is better than that.

My truck is a '87 two wheel drive, short wheel base, half ton. The Detroit locker is out of a 2000 Cadillac Escalade. When the unit senses a difference of 100 rpms between the axles it locks up and puts power out to both tires. The only thing I had to do was get a set of heavy duty axles out of a suburban and machine them down about .2000" so they would fit into the carrier correctly. Let's see 14.8? The new mustwang GTs run 14.6 . Before the gear change I could pull a car length on a 2000 GT between 0 and 65. I know for a fact that they are faster on the top end, but I have never gone above 65 while racing one. My old gears were 3.42s on an open differential. You are probably running faster in the quarter mile than me, but you wouldn't be able to see the difference until about 70 mph on the back part of the track. I can get right at 14mpg if I keep my foot off the floor.

Any more questions just ask.

I bought the locker with 3.73 gears on it from a guy in Dallas for $225. The Escalade had under 2000 miles on it when it was hit and an axle seal started leaking. They went ahead and replaced the whole rear end. I paid about $135 for all new bearings and seals from Richmond. And about 15 bucks for oil and additive. $75 for a set of axles. A friend who owns a performance shop installed it for me. Labor would have been around $230. Right around $450 for parts total. I opted not to get the Northstar system with it. They refused to call me Batman
