91RS vs 86GT

My friend just recently bought an 86 Mustang GT(auto). He had a V6 and now he wants to race me cause a bunch of his friends told him that now he could take me. Ive been in his car and it pulls really nice.
Just would like to know if I have chance, were are going to LACR this friday.
Can I take him???

Since you have a few mods and if his car is all stock -you have a chance. Otherwise no. Stock 86 GTs ran mid to high 15s -RSs ran high 15s to low 16s. With your mods you should be running mid 15s. Good luck spanking the runtang.

Would LT1 cam be enough??? To take the mustang.

Yea, the LT1's would kill the 5.0. BTW they were mid to high 14 sec cars if I remeber, definetly not high 15's, but the LT1 would still kill a 5.0 no probs.

I think I should make my self a bit more clear. what I meant by the LT1 was only swapping an LT1 cam into my 305TBI.

Axle/Gears: 4th gen 3.42
I raced an 89 5.0 GT Auto with 4.11's in the rear, and oddly he didn't beat me by that much, a car length or two. If the GT is stock, you may be able to take him.

Last night I raced a 95 V6 Mustang Convertable, and romped it. All it had was a performance chip, ooooh yeah, first confirmed kill with the L03.

The auto's in the mustang 5.0 have the crappiest gear ratios ever. I killed this '88 low mileage auto LX mustang with flowmasters. My car's an IROC vert with a 5-speed L03 and only a few mods. The auto mustangs are jokes.
