So friday night i was at a party for a friend i havent seen in a while when my friend Adam came in and (who i havent seen in 2 years) asked who has the blacked out slomaro in the driveway. he started talking about how he could jump like 2 car lengths on a mustang but would always lose. so i asked him what kind of times he ran and he was like 15.9 was his best time ever. i am thinking wtf, he spends 2000 on a paint job and 400 on a spoiler and 1800 on rims and tires and doesnt drop ANY money in the motor. my car runs a best of 16.1 so i was like well do you wanna race? he says no, he doesnt like to run people with v8's!! i started laughing and said well if you can jump two cars on a mustang then you shouldnt have a problem beating my brains in. so the night goes on and we were all leaving and i followed him out of neighborhood. he was acting like he wanted to race beacuse every stop sign we came to he would rev up the fart can and spin the tires. anyways we got to a redlight and no one was around so i pulled up next to him and he had this shyt eating grin on his face. so we lined up and when the light turned green i dumped the clutch at 3k rpms and tires were smokin. we ran door to door until i dropped into 4th and picked up about a half a car on him. looked at speedo and was going around 85mph, so we both slowed down and he looked at me in disbelief! i told him who ever you jumped two cars on in the mustang must of been asleep. anyways i am guessing it is a late eighties crx. he was really disapointed when i told him my best time was a 16.1! so score one for the basiclly stock lo3 with bad vlave stem seals and 160k's on the clock.

 

I raced a late 80s early 90s CRX like you wrote about. This guy had a 90 HP Nitrous System on his little 4 banger and thought he could out run my 350. We ran the cars infront of everyone at this convience store we meet at (no cops show up after 1pm). We line up and I let him hit the horn to start. All I hear from him is squeeling tires (haa haa... dumb @ss FWD cars) I put 10 -12 car lenghts on him to the 100MPH we agreed on. Needless to say he was'nt too happy... telling me that he only has a little 4 cyl. motor & blah, blah, blah about why he was beat. Being beat had sure changed his tune and had given him a new respect for 350 TPI cars. BTW I also beat a really cØcky Rustang guy that was talking a lot of SH?T about my car. That was also right infront of the store. I put 3 car lenghts on him.

I've never lost to a CRX yet. Both freeway and drag racing. On the freeway my freinds SI's keep up with me till I shift it to 3rd. As soon as I shift I take off and leave them behind. I like to show them my taillights. One time my friend with his 90 CRX SI w/mods and my other friend with his 91 SI CIVIC w/mods. They flew by me at high speed as I was cruzing it. So as they passed me I downed it and just passed both of them and left them behind. And they started racing way before me. haha...my freind said he was all sick. Cause he was pegging his speedometer and was also revving high. Yet I just went past him. haha...

Is a crx a real formidable opponent? My friend has a 89 crx si, and it is slow as hell in my opinion. He thinks so too. I have a 305 and dont even have to really press the gas to get in front of him.

Yea they can be fast. I saw the funniest thing the other day on the net. A crz with a 400 hp crate motor. The engine was almost bigger than the car.

i really thought those cars were fast. i about hit the floor when he said 15.9! it was a good race though, between 2 slow *** cars.lol.

 

Those CRX´s can´t be fast (at least not all of them). I raced one in my truck from stoplight to stoplight and was far ahead of him and yeas he was racing (my truck can´t go faster than ~120 km/h so he should have won if we got to that speed). You should have seen the look on his face

My truck is 81 Blazer with a 350, 272 cam, no cat (not requred on vehicles older than 93), TH350, 4.88, lockers and 38" tires (a perfect sleeper) .
